*Sorry this took so long to get out! I've been busy!*
The sermon came to an end, thankfully. Isaiah was tired of his dad going on and on about how homosexuality is a sin.
Jayden was pretty bored of the sermon, so, he too was happy when Matthew Harden, the pastor stops talking. 'How on Earth is this church considered friendly? All he's been talking about is different things that'll make you go to Hell.' Jayden observes.
Church finishes up with them taking communion.
After church has ended, Jayden notices a pretty girl. She has brown hair, and pretty green eyes. Jayden goes up to her without hesitation.
"Hey," Jayden greets. The girl gives him a pretty smile.
"Oh, hi! I'm Leah, nice to meet you," Leah responds.
"I'm Jayden."
They get to talking and Jayden gets her number, 'Maybe this won't be so bad after all.' He grins at the thought.
He doesn't even notice Isaiah standing there. 'Why would he?' Isaiah thinks to himself, seeing how invisible he is to Jayden.
"Isaiah, come on." Matthew calls to his son, and smiles. A sign that he wants Isaiah to come over to the rest of family and smile like a good boy. Isaiah reluctantly walks over to the rest of the family. They wait by the door to leave the chapel, where his father starts saying bye to everyone. But then, Jayden's family comes over. They were the last people.
"Hello, sorry to bother you. But we're new here and have a problem," Jayden's father spoke.
"Oh, okay," Matthew responds giving them the hint to walk away from the door of the chapel. "Finish picking up in there, would you, Isaiah?"
Isaiah nods, with a smile still on his face. He walks back into the chapel to finish picking up things.
"So, I'm Matthew Harden, this is my wife, Beatrice, my daughter, Joanna, and that was my son, Isaiah," Matthew introduces his family.
"Oh, nice to meet you," Jayden's mother says.
"I'm Mark Brooks, my wife, Carly, and my son, Jayden," Mark makes sure to do the introduction like Matthew, and then continues, "You see, my son, is kind of..." He hesitates, giving his son a sad look. Jayden sighs and rolls his eyes, "punk. And, well, he's the same age as your son, I believe. He's 17."
"Ah, yes. They are the same age."
"Anyway, my son goes to West Stream."
"As do my son and daughter," Matthew responds.
"I was wondering...if our sons could start hanging out? Your son seems like a good influence," Mark mumbles, nervously. The idea makes Jayden furious.
'Hanging out with that prick? Hell no!' Jayden thinks to himself, angry.
"Of course! I'd do anything to turn troubled boys into respectful, young men."
Mark and Carly's faces light up, "Thank you!"
At that moment, Isaiah walks out of the chapel and locks the door, handing the keys to his father. "I'm done."
"Good. Now, I was talking to the Brooks, and to help their son work on his attitude, you will be hanging out with him," Matthew explains.
The idea excites Isaiah. But he makes sure to keep his usual smile, "Okay."
"Maybe the boys should hang out today. You know, get to know each other. While, we can go to our house and talk," Beatrice suggest, happily. She loves taking care of guests.
Carly nods, and gives a nice smile, "Sounds like a plan."
Together, the families walk out of church and into the empty parking lot, in North Dakota.
"Just follow our car," Matthew instructs. Carly and Mark nod, while Jayden makes his little interest obvious.

When, they get to the Hardens' house, the adults go inside. Before that, they tell the boys what they can do. "You can take Isaiah's car and go hang out at a coffee shop, or something," Matthew states. Isaiah nods, while Jayden grumbles.
Before going inside, Joanna whispers something to her brother, "Good luck with Jayden. He seems moody."
Isaiah chuckles, and whispers back, "I'll be fine."
She nods and heads inside. Isaiah pulls his keys out of his pocket and walks over to his car. He climbs into the drivers seat, and an annoyed Jayden climbs into the passenger seat.
No one says anything for a couple of minutes, so, Isaiah decides to start the conversation. "So, I'll saw you were talking to Leah," Isaiah didn't know why he said that.
"Yeah, so?"
Isaiah feels suddenly nervous, "I was just saying she's a very nice girl."
Jayden actually smiles and looks out the window dreamily, "Yeah, she is."
Isaiah tries to ignore the pain in his chest. "Anyway, are you guys going on a date?"
"Maybe," Jayden grins. "She's so pretty-
SCREEE!
They pull up to the coffee shop and park. Isaiah was glad for the loud noise interrupting their conversation.
"Let's go in, I guess," Isaiah remarks, hopping out of the car. Jayden follows, embarrassed. He doesn't want to be in public with Isaiah.
