*Hey! Author here! So, I know I've been gone. But, as you all know, we've started online school recently, which sucks. Besides that, I've been trying to complete school work, so I'll start posting more on weekends, like I used to. I'm sorry. If I could post all day, I would. I'll still try to get chapters out more often. I love you all! Stay safe!*
The boys walk around the park looking for a good place to sit. The park is pretty empty. People are starting to leave due to the gloomy circumstances. There are still a couple of teenagers and families lingering around the park.
Isaiah and Jayden sat down on a small bench. Sitting outside made Isaiah realize how cold he is. 'Curse me for not wearing a jacket!' Isaiah thinks to himself, frustrated. He starts shivering. Jayden seems to take notice and pulls off his hoodie. He's wearing a grey t-shirt underneath, and doesn't mind the cold. He holds the hoodie out for Isaiah who didn't notice Jayden taking it off until it's in front of him. "Huh?" Isaiah mumbles, taken aback. (I know it's super cheesy)
"You seem cold. Do you want it or not?" Jayden ask, trying to seem chill about it. Ignoring his heartbeat which seems to speed up with every moment.
Isaiah smiles, slightly. "Thanks," He takes the hoodie and pulls it on. He's super excited about it, but tries to act calm.
They sit there a moment longer.
Jayden starts looking for a fight. Only because he is feeling too many emotions for Isaiah and he can't contain them. "You know, Leah called me yesterday. She said that she didn't want to go on a date anymore," He goes quiet for a moment. Isaiah thinks he's looking for comfort.
"I'm sorry to-"
"You told her to, didn't you?" Isaiah is surprised. Jayden stands up and starts walking, Isaiah hops up and follows him. "You like Leah, don't you?"
Isaiah shakes his head, "No! This is all a misunderstanding."
Jayden gives Isaiah a nasty glare, "So it's all a misunderstand, huh? You two don't hug all the time? Hm?"
"Jayden, you're not listening-" Isaiah tries to explain, but Jayden isn't listening to anything he says.
"I am listening!" He shouts, people are looking now. "You clearly ruined my chance with her!"
Isaiah is mad now, "I didn't do that, Jayden! You don't understand!" Isaiah doesn't hold back. He yells with just as much power.
"What do I not understand?" Jayden hollers getting near Isaiah's face. He glares down at him as if he's just a piece of trash. Isaiah doesn't blame him, he is a piece of trash.
"You think I like her! I don't like her, Jayden! I never have and never will!"
Jayden scoffs, "Really? You don't like her? Really?"
"Yes, really!" Jayden rolls his eyes at Isaiah's statement, "It's because I don't like girls!"
Jayden's eyes widen. The crowd that has gathered around them all gasp. Isaiah looks at the ground, "You're..." Jayden doesn't finish.
"I'm gay."
Jayden isn't finished yelling yet, "You know what, I don't care," He growls, "It doesn't change anything. I still hate you more than anything."
People look surprised.
"You think I don't know that? It's not like we would be talking if your parents hadn't come to mine, looking for a good influence," Isaiah stands his ground.
Jayden is tired of this, "I wish they wouldn't have. Because I don't care about you or whatever this 'friendship' even is."
Isaiah can't stop himself, "I don't get why, though! All I've done for this past week is be nice to you. I talked with your friends. I tried to get along with all of you. Why do you hate me?"
"Because you're a jerk. You're entitled because your dad owns the biggest church in North Dakota. You think you're so great. You think you're so smart. When all you are is a loser, an idiot who thinks he's amazing!"
"You couldn't be more wrong! You've never tried to learn anything about me. I don't even talk to other kids at school. I'm quiet because no one likes me. You have no idea what life at home is like for me! You barely know me!" Isaiah is tired of all these false claims about him.
Jayden sighs, "Okay. Then how awful is life at home for poor Isaiah Harden? How hard is it when your dad is a pastor, and he loves you for who you are?"
"First of all, he doesn't love me for who I am. And it sucks! I'm never good enough to my dad. I'm not allowed to do anything. I have absolutely no say in what happens," He wants to talk about the abuse. But he can't.
"So?" Jayden acts like that's not a big deal. Deep inside though, he knows that what Isaiah is going through is not okay.
Isaiah looks up at Jayden, "The worst part about my life is the fact that I'm in love with you."
The crowd gasp more than they did at learning that Isaiah is gay.
"I'm in love with you. And you hate me more than anything. Do you realize how hard it is being alive and knowing that I'll never find anyone? Yeah, Leah knows about it. She called you because of me. But I never told her to. She wanted to. You don't understand my life, Jayden. You don't know anything about me. Yet, you think you do."
Jayden doesn't know what to say, "I..."
Isaiah starts crying and runs, rain is starting to pour now. Jayden stands there, frozen. The crowd urge him to run after Isaiah. He does.
Isaiah is fast, though. He runs like his life is on the line. Maybe to him at this moment, it is.
'What have I done?' Jayden wonders as he runs after him. 'I'm an idiot. How did I not realize?' He curses under his breath. People start getting in the way. And he loses Isaiah through the rain and people. Just like that, Isaiah Harden has disappeared.
