Uncaring and Bullying

(I'm super dumb and didn't realize that the 6th on the actual calendar is a Saturday, not a Sunday. So, in the 2nd chapter, it should now say the 7th. Their friendship lasted until the 13th. Yesterday was the 14th. So now it's the 15th. I'll try to be more careful about dates. Sorry!)

It's January the 15th, 2018.

When Isaiah wakes up on Monday, he instantly wants to go back to bed. All night he was awake thinking about what all of his classmates will say.

Joanna comes into his room, knowing that he would do this. She drags him out of bed and pushes him into the bathroom.

He gets a shower, because he can't stay in bed forever. After his shower, he takes his time getting ready. Trying to drag everything out. But Joanna forces him to speed up.

Eventually, the siblings end up downstairs at the table. Isaiah doesn't feel like eating and based off of his dad's reaction, he doesn't want his son to eat anything. He's still furious about Saturday.

'He thinks he's mad now? Wait till he sees what things were posted on social media about me. He'll know what being mad actually feels like then,' Isaiah doesn't worry about his dad's reaction when he'll find the photo and video. He might actually try to disown Isaiah, but Isaiah doesn't care anymore. His dad would do anything to get him off his back. That's what's scary. He only worries about how his reputation looks.

Joanna gets ready to say something to their dad, so that he won't keep giving Isaiah a dirty look. But, her brother grabs her hand under the table and gives her a 'please don't' look. That's the only reason she holds back.

Beatrice can't say something. She's understandably scared of her husband's wrath.

"Joanna and I should be going to school. Come on, Joanna," Isaiah says, after his sister has eaten a good portion of her food.

Matthew mumbles, "At least I have one kid who isn't a disappointment."

Despite feeling offended, Isaiah doesn't say anything. That is the last straw. Isaiah isn't scared. He doesn't care anymore. He has accepted that his dad will never love him like he loves Joanna.

Isaiah and Joanna leave the house and get into Isaiah's car. "That's kind of casual clothing. I've almost never seen you wear that type of stuff," Joanna notes. Her brother is wearing a black hoodie and grey pants. Normally, their dad wants full glam. Isaiah really has hit rock bottom.

"Well, I'm already a disappointment. I don't care how much he beats me for wearing this stuff. Actually, he can beat me for anything. I don't care anymore," Isaiah explains. Her brother's bravery makes her proud and concerns her. Their dad doesn't hold back, no one knows that better than Isaiah.

She doesn't say anything back. She truly doesn't know what to say.

................................................................................................................................................................

They get to school. Joanna wants to stay around her brother. Not wanting him to face his classmates alone.

"Joanna, I need you to go with your friends," He tells her.

Joanna mumbles, "I don't want you to face them alone!"

Isaiah sighs, "You're going to get beaten up for associating with me. Just let me take this one alone."

"But you always take your pain alone!"

"Joanna, please. I don't want you to get hurt. I told you, I'm not scared," Isaiah explains.

Joanna gives in. Her brother is stubborn when it comes to people trying to help him. He always refuses it. Doing it all alone. She hates it, but knows she has to listen. Joanna hugs her brother, tightly before going over to her friends.

Isaiah slips inside. No one says anything for a moment, so he feels safe. Until...

A large group of football players walk over to him. They call him out.

Brad, the quarterback is the one to say something. "Look, everyone! It's Isaiah!"

One of the other players shove him into a locker. His head hits it, but he climbs back up.

"Accept defeat, will ya?" Another player pushes him onto the floor. People around are laughing and gasping, because they're unaware of the video. But not for very long. Because other people are telling them about it and showing them the photo and video.

Jayden watches. He knows what it's about. Jayden tries to intervene. The captain of the team tries to throw a punch, but Jayden stops him.

The captain, Daniel, laughs. "Why are you helping him? He's humiliated you! Now everyone knows a guy is in love with you."

"I don't care," Jayden doesn't. He doesn't care what others say. It's none of their business anyway.

The guy pinning Isaiah down is waiting for instructions. But, Daniel is too confused. To him, Jayden should be helping in the bullying. "Let's go, guys."

The guy lets go of Isaiah. Daniel leads his team away from them. "Gay freaks," One of them mumbles.

Jayden isn't gay, but he's not going to correct the guy. He looks back at Isaiah, who has already pulled himself off the ground.

Isaiah looks like he wants to leave, but instead, he pulls something out of his backpack. It's Jayden's hoodie. "Here. Thanks," After handing Jayden the hoodie, he rushes off.

That's all he says, before he walks away. Jayden doesn't blame him. He's mad at himself, too.

Jayden didn't realize that Leah, Noah, and Sam were watching until they run over to him.

Noah gives him a surprised look, "So, I guess you've heard about the video, huh?"

"Well, I didn't realize it was filmed. But it's hard to miss the one thing everyone is talking about," Jayden shrugs. The video isn't important, right now.

"Have you seen the photo, though?" Leah ask. Now, that's news to Jayden.

Jayden's right eyebrow goes up, "What photo?"

Sam pulls out her phone and shows him a photo that's pretty popular, with over 600,000 likes. The photo is of Isaiah, who appears to be drunk at some party. It was taken and posted the same day that they had the fight. In the photo, who also appeared to have taken it is Sabrina Wrights, Jayden's science partner.

She put the caption as:

If you live in North Dakota, you may recognize this face! It's the pastor's son, at a party?!
