*By the way, in case you're wondering about how Jayden can go on a date despite his parents not letting him see anyone but Isaiah on weekends, it's because his parents were thinking that Leah and him could be something serious.
School ends and that leaves Isaiah and Leah both feeling extremely nervous.
Isaiah goes to his locker and keeps taking deep breaths. He tries to be calm about it though. He doesn't want Noah asking questions.
"Hey Isaiah!" Noah comes up behind him and starts opening his own locker.
Isaiah fakes a smile, "Hey."
"What have you got planned this weekend?"
"Well, not much," Isaiah responds.
Noah nods, "Hm, maybe we can all hangout then."
"Oh, that sounds-"
Noah smacks himself in the head, "Sorry, we can't. Jayden isn't allowed to hang out with any of us, but you over the month on weekends."
Isaiah looks as confused as he feels, "How come?"
"Well, it's punishment for him ditching you last Sunday," Noah explains. "Did he not tell you?"
"No, he didn't," Isaiah mumbles. He got Jayden in trouble. The whole point of lying to Jayden's parents was to cover up for him.
Noah shrugs, "I should get going. Sam and I are going to the movies tonight. And I haven't even figured out what I'm wearing or what present to get her," He laughs, like it's something that Isaiah can relate to.
Noah walks off and joins Sam near the front door.
'I'm glad they're happy. I just wish I was, too,' Isaiah thinks, but then changes his mind. 'I'm so selfish. Think about someone else for a change,' That's what he keeps telling himself. Not realizing how much he's ignoring his own feelings.
He finishes packing his backpack and closes his locker door. He wants to slam it so that he can take out some of the frustration building up inside him. He can't though. What would others think if Isaiah, perfect Isaiah, slammed his locker door? They'd frown, whisper, glare at him because he was being disappointing. He knows it.
Isaiah leaves the school and waits there. It's like waiting for impending doom. It's going to happen. What will she say?
Leah appears out of no where. "Hey," She smiles, but it looks forced.
Isaiah nods, and looks at the ground, "Hi."
"I didn't drive to school today," She didn't because her dad needs to use her car to drive to work. His is in the repair shop. "Can we take your car?"
"Yeah," He replies.
They walk over to his car and both climb in. He starts the car and plays the usual music he would play with Joanna. It's too awkward for the car to be silent and Leah isn't like Isaiah's dad, who needs to constantly be listening to music about God.
Isaiah focuses on the road. He doesn't have much time to think about what's about to happen to their friendship. Will they even be friends after this? He can only hope.
Leah stares out the window as the car moves by. She hears Isaiah listening to the instructions to get to her house mixed with the music. 'What if I'm all wrong about this? What if Isaiah's not even gay? I mean, I'm sure Jayden has feelings for him. But he might not like Jayden back. Crap. I didn't even think about that,' It's true. When it came to Jayden and his emotions, you can read him like a book. However, Isaiah is much better at masking his emotions. He'll smile, but it always looks surreal. She looks over at him. This blank look is on his face. She's seen him when he's focused, and he doesn't look, just focused. He looks... she can't describe it.
