"That was odd," Noah shrugs, not catching on.

Sam sighs, "Noah, he's upset."

Noah grumbles, "I know! I just don't know why," He explains.

Jayden doesn't say anything. He just frowns and leans against a locker. 'This sucks! My one chance to talk to him is gone.'

He's devastated, understandably so. Isaiah keeps slipping away. It's not because he doesn't want to talk to Jayden, he does, but it's hard to look him in the eyes.

"You okay?" Leah ask.

Jayden grumbles, "I'm fine!" He says, a little too rough.

"Jay, she's just trying to help," Noah defends Leah, feeling bad for her.

"I know. I know..." Jayden is barely able to say it. He's too busy holding back tears, but they come anyway.

Sam notices, "Jay, what's wrong?"

Jayden buries his face in his hands, "Nothing!"

"Jay-," Leah starts, and then realizes that she doesn't know him well enough to call him Jay. "-den. It's okay to be upset. You're going through a lot."

He sighs and starts walking off to his first-period class. Noah reaches for his arm, hoping that he'd talk to them, but he only shrugs them off. Jayden's 3 friends are upset that he doesn't want to talk to them. Though they know it's not personal, he doesn't want to talk to anyone except Isaiah.

Jayden gets into class, seeing Mr. Rights behind his desk, Isaiah at his seat, and other students sitting at desks and talking. Mr. Rights looks at Jayden for a moment, probably remembering their encounter earlier. Jayden notices but ignores it. He's been ignoring a lot of things lately.

Instead, his gaze lingers over to Isaiah, who is listening to music again. They have 10 minutes before class, still. Jayden considers walking over and asking Isaiah what he was going to say. It'd be awkward, though.

A girl that Jayden doesn't recognize walks over to him. "Hi," She smiles. She has dark brown hair and blue eyes.

He tries to ignore her, but she doesn't take the hint. Instead, she takes a seat from a desk in front of him and takes a seat. "Hey?" Jayden replies.

"I'm Kayla."

Jayden nods, "Cool," He doesn't say anything else, though she stays.

"You're Jayden. I know. I just wanted to say that you're really handsome," Kayla smiles. Jayden gives her an odd look.

He sees Isaiah get up, looking upset. And walking out of class. Jayden stands up and rushes out of the classroom. He can hear Kayla asking him what he's doing.

He sees a glimpse of Isaiah as he heads into the boys' bathroom. Jayden goes after him.

Isaiah is sitting in class, listening to music, continuously looking back at Jayden. When he sees this girl sitting across from him. It upsets him, although he feels that it's unfair, considering the fact that he's the one who's been avoiding Jayden. 'Maybe Leah was wrong, like I said she was. He's not into me.'

He watches them for a moment, seeing it all wrong. He kept thinking that they were something, unable to see the uncomfortableness on Jayden's face. Instead, he leaves after hearing her call him handsome. 'She's right, he is handsome. Though he's not mine,' Isaiah thinks, bitterly. He doesn't notice Jayden follows him into the bathroom. He speeds through the halls, noticing then. He hopes to blend in with the crowd, unaware that, to Jayden, Isaiah could never blend in with a crowd, he's too pretty. Isaiah hides in the boys' bathroom, and that's what leads both of them to this moment.

When Jayden gets inside the bathroom, he's glad to see that there are no other guys in here. He hears muffled crying and sniffling. He knocks on the door of the stall.

"Is anyone in there?" Jayden asks. The stall goes silent.

He hears Isaiah's voice, "W-why do you want to know?"

Jayden sighs, "Because I'm worried about you."

"Okay..." He mumbles and opens the stall door, walking out of it with a few tears running down his face.

"Are you okay?" Jayden wonders.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Jayden decides not to grill him on it.

Jayden instead says, "Okay, well, let's go back to class, if you're okay. Don't want to ruin your perfect tardy reputation."

Isaiah smiles. That made this whole thing ten times more worth it.

Classes seem to drag on for both boys. Isaiah feels better after seeing how Jayden ditched that Kayla girl to come after him. She's come up to him a few times, but he has ignored her for the most part.

Leah convinces Isaiah to sit with them during lunch. "Hey, guys! Look who I got back over here," She says, with a big smile on her face.

"Hey, Isaiah. Nice to see you during lunch again," Sam greets, and Noah nods in agreement.

Jayden smiles, "I'm glad you're back."

Isaiah blushes and Leah leads him into the seat next to Jayden. Neither boy minds, but they're both nervous.

Isaiah gets home with Joanna, feeling good. 'It was nice being near Jayden again. It's been a while. Maybe there is still a chance for us, after all,' Isaiah thinks to himself, happily. Joanna notices her brother's behavior.

When he goes to his room and sits on his bed, daydreaming about Jayden, she barges in. "Aha!" She announces, pointing at him, accusingly.

"Aha, what?" Isaiah replies.

"You're thinking about Jayden!"

Isaiah tries his best not to blush. "What makes you say that?"

"You're making your Jayden face," Joanna claims.

"What face?" He responds.

Joanna rolls her eyes, "The one where you have a little smile on your face, and this little twinkle in your eye!" She explains.

"Okay, so what if I'm thinking about Jayden?" Isaiah retorts. Not seeing the point in her interrogation.

"It means that you still have a chance!" Joanna says, excited.

Isaiah sighs, "Joanna, just because I like him doesn't mean he feels the same way."

Joanna pouts, she knows that he's right. Seeing her brother's glum face makes her cry. "Joanna! What's wrong?" Isaiah asks, jumping off the bed and pulling her into a hug.

Joanna pulls back from the hug, slightly. "I want you to be happy! I don't want to see this whole situation make you cry anymore!"

Isaiah holds back tears, hugging her tightly. "I'll be okay. I have you and that's all I need."

Joanna shakes her head, "No! You need Jayden! You two are meant for each other, I know it! Just give it time! It'll happen. I know it."

He doesn't argue with her and doesn't say anything to rain on her parade. He hopes that they're meant for each other. But, Jayden probably doesn't feel the same way. Jayden just feels bad for Isaiah.

Isaiah lies to himself. Saying that he didn't feel the same is easier than thinking that he feels the same.
