Mathew and Liz were dancing now and Tyler and Talia had disappeared. So I immediately felt out of place at my own party. I went to the bar and Damien joined me, as if appearing out of thin air and paid for the next drink I ordered.

"Not to be a party pooper, but, that's definitely your last drink," he told me.

Briefly, I was irritated that he thought he could tell me how much I could have to drink. Just another male thinking he knew better. Were all men this condescending? Or did my issues with men make me see red whenever they were concerned?

I smiled, "We'll see," I said before I walked over to the table where the others were.

Liz now had Matthew at the other end of the bar and they were talking about God knows what but they looked like they were arguing. I didn't want to intrude though I was curious at what had my friend so riled up. I'd ask her later. Suddenly, I really wanted to dance. Just get myself moving to the music and forget just how terrible the last few weeks had been. Screw Vince. Screw his mixed signals. If the man couldn't make up his mind on what he wanted, he was not for me. And I would do well to accept that and move on. No matter how hard I found it.

Still not knowing where Talia was, I dragged Damien along with me to dance. And I danced like there was no tomorrow knowing very well that I would regret making a drunk call to Vince soon. And soon came sooner than I needed it to because Vince appeared in the club while I was dancing, rather provocatively. For a moment, I thought I hallucinated him until he said my name. Not that I heard him through the music, but there was no mistaking the movement of his lips.

I ignored him for a moment, turning around and moving my hips to the beat. I knew he was walking towards me, I could practically feel it. I threw my arms in the air and kept on dancing with Damien who was more than happy to accommodate me, I was practically gyrating on him when he leaned closer to me, bringing his lips to my ear so he could whisper in my ear.

"Really wanna drive him crazy? Put your arms around me," he whispered.

I glanced up at him and smiled, glad he was willing to play this game with me. I did as he said and continued thrashing around to the upbeat tempo of the music. Suddenly, arms grabbed me around the waist and I was pulled back against a warm solid chest. He spun me around and I was faced with Vince looking equally as angry as I'd felt these passed few weeks.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, but he ignored me and took my arm, not at all gentle, might I add.
"We're leaving," he said.
"I'm still dancing," I said, still moving about despite the hold he had on my hand.
"Come on," he pulled me along with him like I was nothing but a rag doll.

Condescending piece of manmeat that he was.

"Whoa, Vince," Damien tried to stop him. "Krissy, do you want to leave with him?"

I wanted to say no but I was so starved of him that I couldn't hold onto my anger and hurt right then. I'd missed him too much and being in his arms just then felt like rain after trekking in a desert. So I nodded and Damien let me me leave with him. He led me out, walking in long purposeful strides. As though he couldn't wait to get me out of there. Once we were outside, we met Talia and Tyler, who were shocked to see Vince.

Oh so that's where she'd disappeared off to.

"Vince? Uh hi," Talia said, not bothering to hide her shock, or distaste. "What are you doing here?"
He smiled at her, "Long story, I'm taking her home, did she drive here?" he asked ignoring the clear sign that she didn't like him much at the moment.

Way to go best friend. Stick up for me because I'm a mess and give in too easily.

"Uh no, did something happen?" Talia asked. "Are you okay?" she asked me.
"She's had a little too much to drink," Vince answered before I could.
