It was the first Halloween party of the month. So all those crazies that got their kicks out of scaring people had come out to play. Unfortunately, my boyfriend was one of them. And once again, he, and his best friend, Jonah, decided a party was long overdue. They hadn't had a party at the house in almost nine months. Not since Roger. Not since that night. I'd been thinking more and more about it lately. Maybe it's because I had been seeing more of Celine at school and that forced me to think of her brother. And his killer. Because I was pretty sure I knew who killed Roger.
The night of Roger's death....
"You guys go on ahead, I need to get Krissy ready and eat," I said walking up the stairs.
"Cool," Liz replied as she and Maddie left.I stepped into Krissy's room and found her staring at her paper.
"You have to put that away, staring at it won't change your grade," I said taking her paper and putting it on the table.
"I can't believe he failed me," she muttered.
"He's an arse," I said whilst looking through her closet. If I didn't do it, we would never leave.
I heard her sigh, "He's my professor and he failed me,"
I stopped and turned to look at her, "Krissy," I said slowly, "He gave you a C, he didn't fail you"
"A C minus!" She shouted getting up from her bed and heading over to stare out the window.I rolled my eyes. I loved my best friend but sometimes, she tried my patience. A C was not a fail. But for Kristina Sanders, it could very well mean the world was ending.
"My sponsorship requirements clearly state that I need to keep up an average of A minus Lowest I should let myself get is a B. And I got a freaking C!"
She'd gotten enough A's that it wouldn't even affect her average but of course, being a worry wart, she couldn't let it pass.
"Well, you have a make up test in two weeks," I reassured her.
"I've never had to take a make up test, what if I flunk it too?"
I smiled, "Krissy, you're so dense sometimes. I think your paper was great. If Professor Darke didn't think so, it was maybe because he was just in a bad mood or something. Maybe you should talk to him about it. Lord knows the man is an arse," I said hoping my plan would get her out of her mood.
She laughed, "You already said that,"
"Which means it's true," I turned back to her closet. "Now are you going to help me find you something to wear to this party or not?"
"Should I be going to this party?" She asked coming to look through her clothes with me.
"Yes, it's the party of the year," I answered without hesitation.
"Jonah throws parties of the year every month," She rolled her eyes. "Hell, he had one last week,"
"Yeah, but we don't get invited to all of them, so this is our chance,"My chance anyway.
"You just want to see Tyler,"
Guilty.
"You know I've had a crush on him since forever. So him personally inviting me..."
"Us" she interrupted.
"Us, is a clear green light,"
"Whatevs, T," She said and took over to find something appropriate for the party.I knew she didn't want to go, but she'd been spending too much time in doors lately. We'd been in university for almost four months and I think she'd joined as many clubs as one could join and they all required her to be inside. I was determined to let her out and have at least one college experience.
Including getting her a boyfriend. The last guy she'd dated, some idiot called Mark, he went to high school with us, was long gone now. He dumped her in an email. He was a year ahead and went to university and decided long distance relationships weren't for him, after he'd insisted on having one, and sent her a thirty worded email that it was over. Coward. Before that it was the retard Joshua. Honestly, I'd just never liked any of her boyfriends. I always felt she was too good for them. Clearly I was biased.
