I was right, Edgar did bring Mary to even out the numbers. My guess was she would play the heartbroken hostess and he would play the offended cousin. I wondered how Alastor would handle the double attack. To be honest, I hoped he would just kick the two of them out.
I dressed as nicely as I could to avoid giving my not so charming family a reason to pick at my appearance (pictured below). When they finally deigned to arrive, half an hour late by the grandfather clock in the parlor, with no apologies and full of accusations.
"How dare you kidnap a helpless girl?" Mary hissed as soon as she stepped over the threshold. Alastor had gone to open the door while I waited. I could hear them through the open door as I waited, perched on a couch in the parlor.
"My dear," Alastor said smoothly, "I'm appalled you think my manners are so poor. I gave our dear (Y/N) a summoning stone. She summoned me and I helped her away from Edgar during one of his...ahem, tantrums."
"I do not have tantrums." Edgar's voice growled, "Now where is she? Where is the little minx?"
"(Y/N)," Alastor's voice took a slightly more dangerous tone, "Is right this way." A moment later, he led Mary and Edgar into the parlor. They were just as mean faced and foul-tempered as ever.
Pointing an accusing finger at me, Edger spat, "You bitch, do you have any idea what you've done?"
