Alastor was right, my staying with Alastor infuriated Edgar to the point he called my host demanding a meeting.
"You're letting him come here?" I asked when Alastor in disbelief as we sat in his parlor. Alastor nodded, his smile still on his face, though it wasn't as cheerful as normal.
"If he comes here, we have the upper hand." He explained. I looked down at my hands folded in my lap and knew he was right. If we had to deal with Edgar, it was better to deal with him if we had the advantage.
"Don't worry, my dear," Alastor reached over and patted my hand gently. I gave him a soft smile of my own, feeling slightly better.
"When will my charming cousin come to visit then?" I sighed, resigned to Edgar's visit.
Alastor's grin stretched across his face, "He's coming to join us for dinner." I couldn't help but groan. Edgar was going to be bad enough on his own, and knowing him, he would drag Mary along with him.
"Oh joy," I replied, making Alastor chuckle, "I hope you plan on serving wine tonight. We're going to need it."
