René comes back from the airport, and the drive feels so lonely without her by his side. He can only think about the fact that Kurt is with her in the car taking her to their home. It just doesn't feel correct. He felt sad, nostalgic, jealous and maybe a bit angry. Angry with who? He didn't know, but he had the girl he always wanted and he couldn't be completely happy about it.
He should be sitting over the rainbow, feeling like he owned the world. He had Céline Dion, the girl he had wanted for years, but only felt that incredible when they were together.
But once she was gone, the feeling of emptiness invaded him again. It was the best of times and the worst of times for him.
Because he knew she wasn't actually completely his.
He couldn't breath when she was not around or when her stupid husband was there acting like he owned her.
He didn't know which was stronger: the pleasure of being together or the pain of not really having her.
He arrived to his office and sat in his chair, thinking all the memories they had shared there in the last years. How she made it feel like a home, just by being there.
He knew he totally owned her body, she was extremely weak to him. He could win her with one kiss, one single caress. He could actually bet that even with one look.
But he wanted her heart. And she was making it so difficult for him to win her over. Every time he wanted to speak of their relationship she would change the subject or kiss him with a sad look.
She had loved him many years ago, but did she still love him? Or she just found in his bed something her husband didn't offer?
He couldn't think it was only sex. He rejected to think she didn't love him, at least a bit. He would take anything she had to offer him.
He loved her so much, he couldn't just let the feeling go. He rather have her from time to time, sneaking around, than living without her at all.
He couldn't imagine his life without her laugh, her jokes, her silky skin, her sweet mouth. Just thinking about it made his chest hurt.
And he was sure she didn't love Kurt, she was just afraid. He remembered every time she tried to kiss him when she was just a teenager.
"I know you want me too" she had said once many years ago, before kissing him on the corner of his lips. And she was right, and nothing had changed.
And she kept pressing him. "I love you and I know you do too" she had said when he offered a time off to escape from her. "Say you don't love me back and I'll stop bothering you" but he hadn't said it. Because he couldn't, it would be lying to her.
So she tries to kiss him in Eurovision, in fact she did kiss him. Deeply, needy, the world burning in that kiss. And even after when married, she never stop seducing him.
She had sang Pour que Tu m'aimes encore in his ear, for gods sake. That had to mean something. She heard the best love song of her French career and thought of him. And that song.
He wanted to be able to sing love songs for her, and have dinner in public, he wanted her every night and every morning by his side.
He couldn't go on like this, he needed all of her but he couldn't ask her to leave her husband or could he?
