The last couple of days have been paradise to them, she was happier than ever and it showed. “You look stunning” René had told her million times already.

“That’s because you know I’m carrying your child” she had told him.

“Say that again” he smiles to her and she looks at him clueless. “That you’re carrying my child” he whispers grabbing her stomach, caressing it softly.

Her hand instinctively rested on her stomach from time to time, and she had to disguise it while being at work, they didn’t want to tell about their precious one, not just yet.

So she sits in front of the cameras to give a love interview, René winked at her from the public and softly caressed his own nose. She smiled, knowing everything would be perfect.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Miss Céline Dion!” Oprah says excited and she stands up everybody clapping. She feels so comfortable with Oprah, they’ve been friends, and she always knows how to make the right questions.

They talk about the tour, the Titanic song, the movie. “Have you watched it?” She asks. “Of course I have. ‘Where to Miss?’ ‘To the stars’ “ Celine says mocking Jack and Rose making everybody laugh.

“And you took someone special to the cinema? Maybe a friend?” Oprah says smiling. “Well, René and I went to the premier in L.A., it was fun” she says winking to the camera, but actually she’s winking to him, remembering that she had gotten jealous but he still managed to make her feel good.

“So you two, it’s a thing?” Oprah asks. “Well yes, we are ‘a thing’” she says laughing. “I mean, we are together, you probably have listened the rumors” she says laughing and photos of them on the streets start showing on the screen behind them.

“You just made me so so happy” Oprah says standing up to hug her friend, everybody on the public clapping and cheering.

“René my friend, come here!” She says but Rene moves his head from side to side from the public. But he eventually stands up and walks towards them, Celine hugging him softly.

The cameras catching the soft kiss he placed on her lips, barely touching each other’s. “America, everybody, my favorite couple!” Oprah says and hugs them before going to a pause.

“That wasn’t bad” Celine says as they get into the car. “That was perfect actually” he whispers. “I can’t believe how you managed to tell in live television about us” he says laughing. “There was no point in denying it, it was the perfect moment we were talking about” she says.

You are perfect” he whispers opening the door of their home for her, knowing they’ll have to wait a little longer to tell about their baby, but it would be much easier now.

They make love softly, just like every night, loving each other so much, that every caress and kiss held the deepest of loves, until they fall asleep together.

“I have a meeting at 12 but I’ll pick you up to go to the doctor” he says from the phone, they are trying to find out how they will manage to finish the Lets talk about love tour and the pregnancy so he’s working hard.

“I can go baby, don’t run” she whispers, getting out of bed. “And miss our first ultrasound? Not in a million years, I’ll be there” he tells her how much he loves her before hanging up the phone.

He picks her up on time, and quickly arrive to the doctor, she had drunk so much water to do the study that her belly is popping out. He softly caresses it as they wait for the doctor.

“You know it’s just because I drank two liters of water right?” She says softly kissing his lips.
“I just can’t help it” he says and they stand up when they call her name.

He stands next to her side, holding her hand and caressing her hair as the cold gel is placed on her stomach.

The doctor turns on the screen and places the transducer on her skin, softly moving it from side to side. He smiles softly to them and continues doing his job.

But he’s not smiling anymore. She could tell he was worried. He added more gel and pressed harder against her stomach.

“Is everything alright?” René asks, staring at the screen.

“René please take a seat” The doctor says only worrying them more. “Just say it” she says.

“There’s no heart beat, it’s still there on your uterus, but there’s no beating” he says in a low voice.

“Check again, turn on the speakers” she says upset. “Check again!” She almost screams.

And although he knows it’s useless, the doctor does as she asked, but then again, nothing.

He takes a tissue and cleans her stomach. “This things happen, even more frequently than we know, most of women don’t even realize they’re pregnant” he says but she’s not saying a word.

She’s looking front, barely holding René's hand. “It will eventually fall by itself, maybe with a little bleeding, smaller than a period. If it doesn’t we should make a little surgery” he says and she just nods.

“Ça va” she whispers in French without even realizing it. She places her clothes correctly again and stands up. Rene shakes the doctor hand and guides her through the hall.

“We will be alright, we can try again, now we know we really can” he never lets go her hand the whole drive home, but she doesn’t say a single word.

He opens the door for her and hugs her tightly at the beginning of the stairs, but she’s not moving. “Tout va être correct” he whispers over and over again, and she collapses against him.

A cry so loud and heartrending that made him shiver. She could barely breath, her chest moved up and down erratically but she didn’t say a word, nor moved.

She was just there being held by the love of her life, and the one she wanted to be the father of her children.

He doesn’t know how long they stand there, but he can’t do more than rub her back and kiss her forehead, whispering how much he loved her and they will solve everything together.

He takes her in his arms and walks upstairs to their bedroom, and places her on bed, she softly crawls herself, her arms surrounding her stomach, her knees close to her chest. He just lays next to her, and spoons her, trying to sooth her with his deep breathing.

It’s getting dark already and her breathing is calmer now, he tries to get up to make some food but as soon as he moves she murmurs a soft “please stay” and he can’t leave her side.
