Eddie used to leave his window unlocked in the summer for Richie incase he wanted to climb in when he was sad. Whether he did that after two months of him not showing up was unknown to Richie. Usually he would climb in and just sit on the end of Eddie's bed until somebody finally spoke up. It was normally Eddie who started conversations, he was never truly asleep when the other boy arrived.

Mud squelched under Richie's feet as he made his way around the back of the house, it was tall, and rather depressing to look at. But the brightest thing was on the inside of those dismal walls. He reached his hand up onto a piece of wood hanging from a part of the house before miraculously pulling himself up to the window ledge. The kid grabbed the handle and gave it a small pull down and pushed it open.

His heart warmed. He still left it open for him... Richie tried very hard to make as little noise as possible when landing, he didn't want the beast down the hall to wake up. Nothing had changed since he had last stood in there. Clothes were still in piles on the floor, comics scattered around and... the pair of headphones Richie had given Eddie for his birthday.

The black-haired boy pushed his glasses up slightly and sat down on the bed. He stared at the smaller kid who was tucked under his duvet, waiting for him to say. "Hey Rich..." A small whisper came from under the cover. Richie sighed. "Sorry Eds, I know we saw each other like four hours ago but honestly, I just wanted to see you again... I missed you." He felt guilty being back there, but it felt right.

"I missed you too, that's why I called this morning. I knew that neither of us wanted to be alone..." His voice was still quiet but he was sitting upright. "Heh... yeah. Honestly I was getting used to it. I'm glad you called though everything seems so much brighter now..." His eyes began to water, he couldn't tell if he was happy or upset.

"Are you okay?" Eddie asked. Richie looked down at him, sadness glazing his eyes. "I just... miss my parents. I know they're assholes, but I want the feeling of comfort from them. They're my parents, they're supposed to love me." Richie tried not to shout but he was whispering a lot louder than before.

Eddie pushed off the covers and took Richie's hands. He pulled him down next to him and wrapped his arms around the taller boys torso. "Eds, I can't stay... what happens when your mom walks into tomorrow," Eddie closed his eyes and nuzzled into Richie's neck. "It doesn't matter, wake up before eight and hide in my closet, when she goes to town then you can come out." Richie pulled the duvet over the two and buried his nose into Eddie's hair. He finally felt like he didn't actually need his parent's love, he needed Eddie's... and maybe, he had Eddie's.
