The boys locked eyes and the rain stopped falling. "Tozier," Henry spat Richie's name like a cuss word. "See you brought your gang with you, makes sense, you have no other friends," He laughed at the teenager with a mullet. "You're one to talk aren't you! You have nobody but your little girly boyfriend Tozier! Not even your own parents love you,"
Richie looked down at his ukulele, stained with grass and water droplets. "Shut up Henry, you're not exactly innocent yourself." Richie smirked. Something had happened a while back, only very few people knew...
They had been down at the quarry one day but it was getting late and the sun was going down. The losers were just sitting by the side of the water, making jokes and skimming stones. Then, of nowhere, Henry came around the corner with Patrick. At first the losers were scared, but once they realised what had happened, they grew calm. The two boys were red and sweaty and there were small bruises beneath their mouths, Richie could've assumed the worst, he did... And It was true, Henry had told Connor, Connor had told his friend and his friend had told Beverly. Obviously she had told the rest of them the story of how Henry Bowers and Patrick Hocksetter made out at the quarry.
"You shut your mouth Tozier!" Henry hissed, his voice breaking slightly, "Nobody can bring that up! Especially not you, sneaking into Eddie Kaspbrak's window when it's nine at night!" Richie froze, his hand gripping is ukulele firmly. "H-how did you-" he stopped, cut off by laughter. "We saw you idiot, just walking round Derry, saw you sneak round the back and not come back down!" Connor taunted Richie.
The curly-haired boy took a step forward and barged past the bullies. "Oh! Is it almost time to go and kiss your little boyfriend mwah mwah mwah!" They joked behind Richie. He had promised Eddie that when he came home The boy would play him some music. Eddie found doctors and hospitals quite scary, it would calm him down. "Yeah! It is." Richie shouted, holding his middle finger in the air. "You're a freak Tozier! Don't you forget it!" The words rang through Derry as Richie ran.
"What time does your mom get home Eds?" Richie tapped his foot on the ground waiting for a reply from over the phone. "In a few hours, after my appointment she dropped me off, had to pick some stuff up, run some errands. Same old boring shit." Richie chuckled over the phone, Eddie swearing was funny since he was so small if you actually met him, you'd think he was innocent. "You're still coming over right?" Eddie questioned over the phone. "Gonna play some music on that ukulele?" Richie looked across the room at the instrument. "If you want, yeah..." He sighed happily. "Well, I look forward to it, see you later!" Eddie beamed. "Bye Eds," Richie chuckled and put the phone down. Henry could say what he wanted. He didn't care anymore, as long as he still had Eddie... everything was just dandy.
