"You've never decorated your house for Christmas!" Richie jumped in surprise, when he was younger, him and his family would all string lights around the house and go tree picking... Eddie had never had that opportunity. "No... My mom goes out on Christmas, and the few days before it... But on the actual night, she leaves at one in the afternoon and will only come home at like, past midnight... so I'm usually on my own."
Richie took Eddie's hand and pulled him along and out of the door. "Wait, where are we going?" He walked quickly beside the taller boy. "My house, my parents probably aren't home and we don't use our decorations anymore... they don't bother trying... we could use them, it'll be fun!" He smiled, still with Eddie's hand firmly gripped in his own. "Right, okay... but what if my mom sees it when she gets home?" His face turned to one of panic. "Chill, just say that you wanted to get into the festive cheer,"
They reached Richie's house, it was still as old and dull as it ever had been, it didn't feel like home at all. "Okay Wait here, if they see you they'll go mad..." He squeezed the smaller teenagers hand tightly before letting go and opening the door. A few minutes later, Richie walked out with a box that said 'Christmas' on the front.
With it being the winter break meant that they had to be careful, hoping that nobody saw them walking with each other, especially to Eddie's house.
"What first?" Eddie smiled at the box eagerly, excitement filled him. It was a new experience. "Well, we don't have a tree... but there are lots of lights in here that we could put up," Richie suggested. Eddie reached into the box and pulled up some gold lights. He went into the kitchen to grab some tape and the two began stringing them up.
A long time had passed since the morning, the sun was covered by clouds and it started to snow. "That was fun," The smaller boy giggled, lying on the floor as if he was high. "Yeah, I'm glad I got to do it again, this time with somebody who actually cared..." Richie sighed reaching down for Eddie's hand. He grasped it, held it there and smiled once again. "I'm glad somebody actually cared enough to give me the experience," Eddie smiled holding his hand tighter.
It was right... Everything was right. Hours had passed and neither of them knew how many. They hoped time would just stop since no troubles... school was out, no work had to be done, the two boys could cuddle up all day and drink hot chocolate with Christmas cookies that Richie was very good at making. Neither of the two noticed the noise of the car parking in the driveway, they were too lost in their own world.
"Eddie Bear!" The Door was thrown open, lights shone in Sonia's eyes. "Ah what the hell?" She shrieked upon seeing the boys on the floor. They shot up, panicked. "Oh hey mom," Eddie's voice was shaky. "Don't you 'Hey mom' me faggot, get him out of my house! You're in deep shit!" Eddie looked into Richie's eyes, gave him that 'Come over later instead?' Look and nodded towards the door. Richie understood and walked out of the door, scared... he knew what Eddie's mother was like, if he didn't come back... Eddie could be seriously injured.
He walked home, not his house... That didn't feel like home. Not without Eddie. He was going to where he felt at home. To try and rid of his fears and panic for his friend. He didn't know what would happen to him, he could be beat, screamed at or even sent away. Richie didn't want to lose him... ever. They had been so close to that in the summer when they fought that clown together, he almost died. He was not risking it.
