Hours had passed since Richie had left and all Eddie's mother had been doing was yelling at him. She wouldn't let him get a word in, she just repeated herself on how disgusting she thought he was.
"Mom. You need to listen to me!" Eddie screamed as his mother pulled the lights down, throwing them into the trash. "I will not raise a faggot!" She yelled, still ripping them from her walls. "Those aren't ours mom! Richie's parents will kill him!" Tears formed in his eyes as he spoke, his throat closed up. "Good. Maybe that'll stop you too from being disgusting little gay boys!" She wouldn't look at him but her words were harsh.
"You're a bitch! You don't care what I want, you don't care what anybody wants!" With that, she spun round and struck him with the wires, leaving a mark running across his torso and over his arms. He shrieked at the pain and fell to the floor. "I didn't ask you to speak! I'm teaching you a lesson!" She shouted hitting him again, this time across the face and a lot harder. "You're hurting me! Stop!" He yelled trying to escape her reach.
She grabbed him tight and squeezed his hand until it felt like it was going to explode. "Stop it please! You're going to break my hand!" The bones in it moved and cracked as she squeezed harder, bruises began to appear on his body. "Get out of my sight!" She screamed and threw him at the stairs where he hit his head. Eddie ran up, locking his door and hiding under his bed.
He looked at his arms, purple, blue, black, brown... any colour you could think of. Even red blood seeped from the scars of the wire. He asked himself where Richie had gone. He needed him. Eddie felt as though he was dying, his nose bled onto his sleeve.
After some rummaging around under his bed, he found it. The battery was running low, but he could use it... His walkie talkie. "Hello? Is anybody there? over." The noise was muffled but something was happening. "Derry police dep-" Eddie turned it off. He didn't need the police, what would they do? No. He needed Richie.
His eyes drifted towards his window. "How am I suppose to get down there?" He sighed, throwing one leg over the ledge. "If I die..." he groaned, pushing himself out and onto the grass. He cringed at the pain but continued to make his way to wherever Richie had gone. Home...
