The garden was lined with candles, and a picnic blanket sat in the middle of the grass. Eddie's feet carried him to where the the other boy sat. "This is, beautiful..." he whispered, sitting down and feeling the soft blanket. "Heh... yeah, I hoped you'd like it." Richie replied.
Eddie looked at him, his eyes shining and reflecting the stars from above. "I'm also glad that, the sky is clear tonight..." He looked up, they shone brightly. He gazed back down to Eddie, who was smiling. "So, what's the special occasion?" Richie stared and the boy.
"I always thought about how, your freckles were like stars... but the more I thought about it, you're a star..." Eddie's world felt like it had lit up. He looked down and blushed deeply. "You think so?" He grinned, trying to stop whatever urges he had to kiss him.
"Yeah... you saved me Eds..." He held the boys cheek. "You saved me too Richie..." They looked at each other as though the world was ending. "Uh... I need to tell you something!" Richie blurted out. Eddie nodded and sat back.
"Every since we were young I always knew... I knew we would be friends forever... but, now it feels different... new and exciting if you know what I mean..."
Eddie looked at him, as if he was telling him to carry on. "Eddie, I think what I'm trying to say is... I love you." He finally said it. A weight washed away from his shoulders. Eddie didn't answer, he just looked at the boy, shuffling closer. "Eds?..." Richie was confused...
Eddie placed a hand on Richie's cheek and one on his chest... he closed his eyes and brought his lips to the other boys own. He pulled back and smiled, "I love you too, Rich..." He removed his hand and placed it on Richie's.
"Hey, you're not just any star..." Richie looked down at the the boy, who was sitting on his lap. "Hm? Really, what star am I?" He replied, squeezing Richie's hand tighter. "You're my star, Eddie," he leant down and kissed the boys cheek once more... "And you shine the brightest."
