CHAPTER 26.| CAN'T HIDE FOREVER
I'll say everything if it means you'll be mine.___
Arsyn was still in a funk. Everything in her head kept repeating, tell him everything. Or don't it could ruin peace for the last Eros. She needed to understand more before going full on detail.
Din could wait. No one was rushing. Well, almost no one. Everyone wanted something, the child would bring them money, the Mandalorian a grand reputation, and the assassin from a world of extinct souls to a greater end.
All three of them combined were a rare fortune. But everyone had a different story that came back to haunt them.
Arsyn being forced to watch Peli and the child have no other choice to surrender because she couldn't stop someone who wasn't even trained as well as her. It was pathetic.
She hadn't felt that since she was young, she remembered telling Talía that she wouldn't dare kill a single soul and here she was. A trained killer afraid of repetition.
Everyone was definitely afraid of something.
Arsyn glances at the child in the cot minding his own business with the bracelet. Maybe it was best if the child knew where he came from before he became older, so he wouldn't face the same things she was.
She decided what was best, and headed up the cockpit with the child placing him in his seat.
"Can we talk?" She asked.
Din switched to autopilot giving her all of his attention. It was nerve reckoning, how was she even going to start? What was she going to give out?
"Nova, you sure you're okay?" She nodded. "Yes. I just—" She braced herself.
"You don't know what you were getting yourself into. — I need to tell you everything that I know" Arsyn plays with her hands, not facing him.
"Arsyn, you don't have too. I know you want to explain yourself, but not until you're ready" Din places his hands up top hers stopping her fingers from fidgeting.
"And if something bad happens, and I don't make it. I want you to know, that I'm—"
"Arsyn, stop. Nothing is going to happen."
"We don't know that—I just need to tell you this, it'll make me feel better, if I don't I'll regret it." Arsyn finally meets his visor, and holds onto his gloved hands tightly.
"Everything we've been through since you saved me. Since the child. To what I know now." Arsyn tried to keep herself calm
"Din, I didn't realize when we were on Sorgan how much I truly cared about you. When I left, something happened and I—I don't know how much time we have, but I'll make every memory count. I swear my life on that"
Arsyn let the water run down. She felt it was necessary finally accepting that she would outlive him, and if anyone was going to die in this situation it had to be her, she didn't want to live in a world where everyone was gone. And she was alone.
"Why are you talking like this?" Din wipes her tears. It felt like she had no other option but to say this.
"Because, Din—"She sighed having choked on her words. "I'm sorry, I, It's awful"
"I told you I would tell you everything, in advance that I don't, you have to read them" She gestures towards the journals.
"I don't need you to protect me, Nova. And I know you can protect yourself, but I won't let anything happen to you. My job now, is to keep you safe, to keep both of you safe." Din grabs hold on her head making her close her eyes.
"Nova, open your eyes" She swallowed harshly and stared at him. "We'll make it out alive"
She didn't want to say anything. Arsyn could only hope for the best. She let his hands fall facing the child who watched the interaction, he titled his head giving them a smile.
Arsyn gave him a weak smile. She just hoped that she could live long enough to spend time with them.
When it got late Arsyn found herself alone in the cockpit, staring out at the void and stars. She reluctantly twirled a piece of her hair, keeping her mind adrift.
She doesn't know that all this time she's assumed Din was asleep, he was actually lying awake in the cabin thinking if she would come down, keep him company.
He didn't want her to be alone up there. Or in any type of situation. But that's just not how it worked. They were never close to each other in such way. Din just thought back to what she said, the journals apparently had answers that he was looking for. What she was.
It all lead back to her. She was willing to give in to her secrets all for him. And all he could do was say his name. Was it fair?
Whether if it was or wasn't, they needed to find ways to make money. Going planet to planet wasn't going to help them sooner or later they would have to think of another way. The galaxy was big but it was small enough for the three to run and hide.
Din stared at the journals and grasped on feeling the hard cover. It was worn but perfectly intact keeping the pages in place.
It had a name impressed in cursive writing; S. Eros
He opened the journal and flipped through quickly feeling the soft breeze. He paused on a certain page seeing a clear sketch of a women. On the bottom marked the name; Maeve.
He turned the page seeing a small sentence; They look so much alike it's unbelievable. Din closed the journal. Maybe her world went far beyond, just like his. Their worlds were different and he knew that. She had abilities that made her wanted. He had a reputation that would haunt him forever.
