🇷aven burst through the double doors of Aogiri, breathless from running without stopping. "Ayato!" She cried out, eyes frantically searching the main room, her voice raucous from weeping immensely during her run on the way over.
She knew Ayato had warned her, she knew what she was getting herself into; she just thought she'd be able to do it safely and without getting discovered, but instead, that's exactly what happened.
Although she had run without halting on the way over, her mind had rewinded the events that just took place. She was so sure she was being careful by using her real name as a fake alias, but somehow that infuriating Urie had managed to uncover and expose her anyway.
"Ayato?" She called out again, delving further into the main room, waiting for a familiar head of indigo to appear, attached to her now-trusted friend who once happened to be her adversary.
Soon, the familiar face of Ayato emerged from the shadowing hallway, making Raven droop her shoulders in relief at the sight of him. At the sight of her, however, his brows furrowed in concern. Although to Raven, it looked like just another one of his expressions.
Seeing the distressed state she was in -- judging from the dried stains of tears on her cheeks, her frazzled hair, and swollen eyes -- his pace quickened as he made his gait towards her.
"Raven? What happened?" He inquired.
Without hesitating, Raven tossed around her arms around Ayato's middle frame, nearly squeezing him with her grip, as more tears danced down her face.
The sudden action caused Ayato to look down at an unaware Raven with slight, widened eyes, stumbled by this new choice of hers. Raven, however, had squeezed her eyes shut, still allowing her tears to seep through as she sobbed into his chest, unaware of the surprise displayed within his eyes.
Realizing what she just did, Raven then expected him to scold her for staining his jacket with her tears or push her off him, or maybe even both.
However, he surprises her by softly uttering her name, lifting a finger under her chin to get her to meet his gaze.
"What happened?" He repeats.
Before she spoke, more tears were ushered out of her as if it was too difficult to talk about what went down earlier. Nonetheless, she poured out the events of earlier -- trying not to break down again from reopening the emotional wound as she explained it. When she finished, Ayato was quiet for a moment, but his gaze didn't forebode dark thunderclouds.
"Urie didn't hurt you, did he?" Ayato inquired, quirking a brow of warning along with the hardening steel in his dark gaze.
Raven shook her head, "no, I managed to stay out of range of his attacks, and since I was trying to prove I wasn't a monster like most of the ghouls they encounter, I was trying not to kill him, so my kagunes barely touched his flesh."
What once was sadness on her face molded into something darker, her brows furrowing as her teeth tightened together. "If it weren't for that damn Urie, Kaneki and I would be together by now. If I ever run into him again, he's going to pay."
At her words, Ayato couldn't help but feel a little tingle of relief that maybe -- finally -- he wouldn't have to hold back anymore. "As much as I understand the urge of wanting to destroy someone who ruined something great for you, I did tell you to be careful."
Raven stepped back from him, brows furrowed at his audacity. "You're really telling me, 'I told you so,' at a time like this?" She scoffs.
"Raven-" Ayato begins to protest, drawing out a sigh.
