Chapter Seventeen

The next three days. I’m celebrating my twenty-third birthday and since no one from the office new about my birthday except for Maya and my family. I woke up with my alarm beeping and since its work day I have to enjoy my day at work without them knowing.

After taking my cereal for breakfast, took the best fresh shower and grab my white spaghetti type above the knee dress and put on my black blazer and a pair of black kitten heels and I’m off to go for work. I get my car keys and confidently open the door when caught to my surprise I saw Roran leaning on his car. What is he doing here?

“What are you doing here?” I asked curiously and just stand near at the door then he walked close,

“Why not?” He said smiling, “Put back those keys I’m driving you off to the office.” He said like a boss. I followed him and just locked my house and head to his car.

“What is this for, Mr. Sanders?” I asked as I buckle myself on the passenger seat.

“Can you do me a favor, Miss Hall?” Roran said starting the engine, “Stop asking and you’ll see.” He added and smile.

I got suspicious and feel so weird about this but I think I’ll just see what is he up to for today, on my special day. At any minute, we finally reached to the building and unexpectedly someone just covered my eyes like blindfold.

“What’s going on?” I said and felt Roran’s hand holding mine and guide me on my steps.

“I told you, no more asking please.” Roran whisper and I just zip my mouth and continue to walk.

I have no idea what’s going on but one thing is I’m sure at, I think they knew it that it’s my birthday today. Should I blame Maya? Or not after all? We stopped and Roran unhand me and I don’t know where he is going,

“Roran?” I asked slightly scared but excited. I’m a fan of surprises but when it comes to like this I’m always thumbs down to it. “Where are you?” I said,

“I’m here, Arielle!” I heard Roran spoke that give me a relieve,

“Can I take off this blindfold now?” I said,

“On my count from one to three.” He said and start to count, “One… Two… Three!”

“Surprise!” I saw mom, dad and Jana, also Maya and the rest of our office mates. I can’t say anything but get teary and speechless. Mom and dad, walked closer to me and hugged me,

“Happy twenty-third birthday, sweetie!” Mom and dad said in unison. “Are you surprise?” Mom asked,

“Oh my gosh! Who got into this idea?” I said smirking while wiping the tears on my eyes,

“It’s my idea!” Roran answered and smile at me,

“How did you know?” I asked curiously,

“It’s because of your resume?” Roran said slightly smiling.

“Oh! Of course!” I said rolling my eyes and being so stupid for a minute in my first day of being twenty three.

“Happy birthday, Arielle!” Maya said hugging me while handing to me a cute box wrapped with cute pink gift wrapping. “I just think it would be a nice gesture to say I love you.” Maya said and hugged me again.

“Thank you so much, Maya! I love you so much!” I said as in the middle of our hug.

“Here! I have something here too.” Russel said being energetic again. His always so cute with that moves.

“Oh my gosh! Thank you, Russel!” I hugged him smile.

Brenda, Stella, Clarisse and the rest of them gave something beautiful for me. Mom and dad, gave me theirs too and also Jana, except for Roran, who is standing in the side and just enjoy watching us. I might not be this assuming but I did expect something from him but I guess, I’ll just keep it as assuming.

The surprise thing is done and were all going back to work and get productive for the day. Mom, dad and Jana, went to my house to stay there so we can celebrate tonight, while Maya stayed at the office with me.

“How’s the surprise?” Maya asked,

“It’s so great, but unexpected.” I said smiling,

“How about Roran?” She asked,

“His doing great, I guess?” I said,

“You know what, Roran is really in to you!” Maya said, “If you could just see him earlier while your still on that blindfold and the way he reacts when you called him on his name.” Maya added,

“Here we go again, Maya.” I said and just rolled my eyes,

”I told his not gonna think of as a girlfriend, besides his my boss and I respect him.” I said whispering,

“Why are you whispering?” She said mocking at me and,

“Shut up, Maya! I hate you!” I said smirking and throwing the teddy bear Russel gave me as a gift.

We talked and laugh the whole time and as the clock hit to ten thirty, Maya went to her workshop and so I’m back for my work and with this papers.
