Chapter 38

Sam gets out of his car and walks to the building Ray works in. He wants to surprise his wife, he knows she's been stressed about work lately, she has a big case and she's been working all day and night so he has thought maybe he can visit her at work and cheer her up a little.

As he makes his way up to her floor, a smile crosses his face. He can't wait to see her, even if he sees her everyday he loves and cherishes every moment with her. Once the elevator bings open he makes his way to her desk, where she happens to be sitting at.

The second he sees her, he frowns. Not because of his wife, but because of who's standing next to her. Her coworker Chris happens to be looming over her, looking down at a file, standing closer to her than Sam likes. He clears his throat, making both of them look up and Rays face immediately brightens as she sees him. "Hey!" She says cheerfully standing up as she sees Sam who's making her happy already.

She wraps her arms around him and pulls him into a hug, making Sam's tense posture loosen up a bit as he calms down at his wife's touch. He hugs her back, but not before she notices how tense he is. "Are you ok?" She whispers to him, making him give her a small smile.

"I'm fine." He tries to assure her as they pull away. She looks over and remembers Chris, who is now staring at them both. "Hey Sam, you remember Chris?" She asks. Of course Sam remembers him. He remembers Ray talking about how he would always hit on her before her and Sam got together.

"Yeah, I remember him." Sam forces a smile and shakes Chris' hand, who gives him a grin. He almost shakes Chris' hand a little too hard before Sam pulls away, making him let out a nervous chuckle. "Nice to meet you too." Chris says jokingly making Sam immediately roll his eyes. He might not know him, but he hates him already.

"What are you doing here?" Ray asks him and Sam wraps his arm around her waist. "I wanted to surprise my wife at work." He says and emphasises 'wife'. Chris gives him a weird look, but Ray smiles at him and Sam pecks her lips.

Ray lets go off her husband and sits down at her desk again, "I'll finish in an hour, so you can take a seat on the couch." Ray points at the couch in her office. Sam shakes his head, "No, I'm good." He says and steps behind Ray as she sits down again.

She frowns slightly, but brushes it off and begins with her work. Chris stands really close next to Ray, their shoulders almost touching as he bends down to her. Ray smiles a bit as she feels Sam's hands on her shoulder and smiles up at him, taking one of them into her hand while she listens to Chris.

Sam takes one hand away from her shoulder and leans against the desk next to her. Sam clenches his jaw as he sees Chris placing a hand on his wife shoulder and pulls her closer to him. Ray frowns at Sam and takes her hand out of his hold.

She discusses something with Chris and Sam pulls her closer every her and there but she rolls closer to the desk again, every time. Ray just wants to do her work and go home as fast as possible. It annoys her how jealous he is, Chris is just her colleague and nothing more.

Ray tries to finish up her work as quick as possible, Sam's jealousy making it a little hard for her. Thankfully, by the help of Chris she got to finish up early. "We can leave now." Ray says to Sam, not showing much emotion on her face even though she's pissed at him.

She grabs her coat and Sam follows her, frowning slightly at her demeanor and jogs to catch up with her, her angry speed walking getting her farther than him. "Are you ok?" He asks her in the elevator.

She raises her brows in amusement at him. "Am I ok? I should be asking you that question." She says as calm as she can. She's trying her best not to get angry at her husband, she doesn't want to fight with him. But considering the way he was acting earlier it makes it a little difficult.
