It takes me a little over twenty minutes to finds some of the pigs. I walk over and they start charging at me. There is no trace of them wanting to avoid a counterattack, just charging forward. I jump up, observing the pig and it's patterns. It doesn't seem to put much thought behind it's attacks. A huge snout, perhaps his forehead is a weak spot. It would make sense, if the snout is used as a huge shield.

I jump up, twisting in the air so I land on top of it's head. It takes me one hit, right on top of it's head, to get it down. I jump down and tie the legs together. After one last check, to see that there is really no heartbeat left. I lift it and start walking back.

Once I get back I see that I am not the first to have found a pig. I walk over to a counter close to Kurapika's, who is standing with Leorio, Killua and Gon. I don't see Mandy, Illumi or Hisoka yet.

"Can't believe you got here before me." I force out a chuckle. "You're quite fast."

"Gon found the pigs, he's like a hunting dog!" Killua yells.

"Hunting dog?" Gon asks.

"I must admit that his senses are above a normal human's," Kurapika says.

"Oh, I see. It took me quite some time before I even found the pigs. They seem to be good at hiding in the forest. It didn't surprise me, seeing how easily they're taken down," I comment.

"Easily?!" Leorio looks at me with a stunned expression.

"Didn't you figure out their forehead was their weak spot by the huge snout? It must protect something, right?" I explain.

Gon and Killua burst out laughing. Leorio pouts and just continues roasting his pig. I look at Kurapika and see that he's holding back a chuckle. I force a small smile and make a fire to start roasting my pig.

"Where are you from?" Kurapika asks suddenly.

"I'm from a small town in the Republic of Padokea. It's nothing special, really," I answer. It's not totally lied. Kukuroo mountain, the home of the Zoldyck mansion, is located in the Republic of Padokea. Close to the mountain is a small town. "What about you?"

"I'm from the Kurta clan," he answers. I look up, surprised at his answer. The Kurta clan has been murdered by the Phantom Troupe quite some time ago. "I am the last survivor."

"That must be tough," I respond. "I've read about it, though I didn't knew there were any survivors. I wish you good luck."

He nods and we both continues on our own meals. My pork is far from roasted when the first people start handing in theirs, they get turned down. Another contestant goes and another. I look at the pork, how long should I roast it?

I see Leorio walking by, perhaps I should get it off the fire. I take the pork off and kill the fire. I chop it in pieces and follow some people into decorating it with whatever is laying on the counter. I don't even know if it all fits together, I'm just trying to find out what looks great.

In the process I see Illumi walking up to the examinators. Also his pork gets turned down, at this rate no one will get through this phase.

Once I have finished my work, having used everything in the counter, I walk to the examinators and show my pork. Buhara tries it and approves, like with every single one before. Menchi thinks different, and she's definitely not afraid to give me her honest opinion.

"Have you ever cooked before?! The meat is burned on the outside and undercooked on the inside. I don't know what you did for the rest but it doesn't seem like you put thought in it. How do you combine all these things? Are you even in a right mindset?!"

I can feel eyes burn into my back and my cheeks get red. I've never been this humiliated in my life and I the urge to kill her gets bigger with the second. But I restrain myself for the sake of my task. I turn around and walk back to the counter.

"You sure got some harsh critics there," Kurapika says. He looks at me, he seems worried.

"She was right, I never cook myself so I don't know how to do it," I admit.

"Though, she is also very critical. She accepts nothing!" Leorio adds.

It takes ten more minutes before Menchi declares she is stuffed, I think she tried one piece of meat in the end. Buhara agrees, I start to get the idea he doesn't really have an own opinion.

"No one passes, why can't any of you make something simple as pork?!" Menchi whines.

"I didn't come here to cook! I came her to take the exam and I refused to accept this outcome!" A huge guy walks up to her. He seems mad. "I refuse to fail here because of some gourmet hunters!"

Menchi gets up and steps forward. She pulls six big kitchen knives from her pockets and plays with them, throwing them up in the air and catching them again. The knives swing around in an interesting pattern. I'm sure I could copy it. "You're wrong," she starts off, now seeming furious. "Gourmet hunters go to the most dangerous places to find their ingredients. Every one of them has his or her own special ability to make you your dishes."

"Crap! I want another task!" the guy steps forward again and Menchi seems to be on the brink of killing him.

Buhara suddenly steps in and pushes the guy backwards, with quite some force. He flies back, making some flips in the process. He ends on his back and groans.

"Don't interfere with my business," Menchi scolds him.

"You would've killed him if I didn't," Buhara explains his behaviour.

I see, an examinator without a lot of patience. This could be troubling or turn out perfect, depending on Killua's next move. Lets get him back home.
