The next morning we're being woken early by the intercom. "Good morning, everyone. In half an hour we will arrive at the site of the third task. Please be ready to leave the zeppelin at that time."
I groan and sit up. "It's too early," I complain as I open my eyes, only to see Hisoka and Illumi have already changed. Illumi is now sitting on his bed, totally ready, while Hisoka stands in front of a mirror and does the last things to his hair.
"Does she mostly complain this much?" Hisoka asks.
"She does, she's quite used to the high class treatment in our mansion," Illumi answers. He gets up and starts applying the needles again into my skin, it only takes him a few seconds before he can sit down again.
"I'm not used to a high class treatment. I can perfectly fine survive on my own, but that doesn't mean I like getting up early," I respond. "Now please get out so I can change."
Illumi gets up, though he's been stopped by Hisoka.
"But wasn't this our room to begin with, why would we leave?" Hisoka asks.
I sigh and grab my bag to change. I notice how Illumi leaves from the corner of my eye and hear Hisoka grumble something about him being a party pooper. I suppose Illumi wouldn't care about it anyways.
I sigh and glance one last time at Hisoka, realising he won't leave either way, and decide to start changing.
After getting ready I walk out of the room, now totally convinced about Hisoka being horrible.
"Good morning!" I hear from my left. I look up and see Mandy.
"Good morning, did you get some rest?" I ask her.
"Yes, I was finally able to catch a bit of sleep. Trying to rest in this exam isn't all too easy, you know. I'm constantly anxious something will happen," she answers, while scratching the back of her neck.
"I understand how you feel, and it isn't weird at all. It is believed to be the hardest exam after all. People get badly injured and die in the process, so being careful isn't an unnecessary trait," I say.
She nods agreeingly. "Where are you actually from?"
"Just a small village in the Republic of Padokea. It's nothing much, so I don't expect anyone to know it," I answer.
Mandy nods and looks at me for a few seconds, though turns around and walks off again.
I look after her, wondering if she knows anything. My thoughts immediately go to Hisoka, I definitely don't trust him, and all the less with Mandy also being here. On top of that; Mandy seems to be having quite good contact with Killua. If she finds out about Illumi and me being here, she'll probably sell us out to our younger sibling. I also still have to figure out what she wants from Kurapika, he didn't seem all to special to me in the beginning.
Lost in thoughts I make my way to the kitchen to grab some food before having to exit the zeppelin again.
As I walk into the kitchen, a piece of fruit flies towards my head. In a reflex I catch the apple and look at it. It doesn't seem like anyone has eaten from it. I look around and notice how Gon and Killua are throwing food at each other, while laughing and ducking.
After watching them for a few seconds I clear my throat. "Excuse me, but what are you doing?"
"We're having a food fight, can't you see?" Killua asks, as his target seems to change and a piece of cake flies my way. I manage to catch it, though the whipped cream spills over my shirt and hand.
"That's a waste of food, and you stained my shirt," I say as I walk over to the sink.
As soon as I turn my back to Killua, I notice I've made a mistake. I hear a chuckle behind me and a second later a bottle of orange juice is empties above my head. In rage I turn around and grab his shirt, lifting him up from the floor. "Now listen up, you albino brat. I get that your kids and all, but don't ruin my hair or clothing if we're gonna arrive at our destination in a few minutes. Got it?" I hiss.
"Fine, fine. Djeez, calm down..." he says.
I let go of him, making him fall to the floor, and try getting the orange juice out of my hair below the sink. Most of it gets out and I dry my hair again with a towel, before quickly changing my shirt. I sigh and look at the two boys who are still throwing food at each other. I guess it would be easiest to just catch something.
And with that in mind, I start walking forward. I notice how Gon grabs an apple, and Killua throws a piece of cake again. I dodge the piece of cake and catch the apple, before walking out.
Ten minutes later we all exit the zeppelin. I've found Kurapika and Leorio again and we've discussed a bit about what we think the next task would be, but naturally none of us got it right. It could've been anything.
"You need to reach the bottom of this tower in 72 hours," the chairman explains. "Your time starts now!" With that he walks back to the zeppelin, which takes off a few minutes after.
I walk to the side of the tower, considering if it's possible to climb down. Suddenly a guy with climbing equipment walks past me. "Climbing is my specialty! I'll be down before you all started!" he shouts with confidence. I wonder if climbing down really is the point of this task, so I decide to watch him before doing an attempt of my own.
Just as he said, he climbs down with a high speed, it's quite impressive. Or well, was impressive, since a huge bird suddenly flies up to him and snatches him from the wall. I could see the huge sharp teeth in its beak and don't have to doubt a moment that the guy has died.
I turn back around and immediately notice how the group has shrunk down. I don't think everyone missing climbed down, and as I look around I also miss Hisoka and Illumi. I can only draw one conclusion from this: we need to find a way into the tower.
I look down at the platform we're standing on and notice a peculiar pattern on the floor. The doors must be hidden within this pattern. I start walking around, tapping small stones. Most have no effect, and the one which did bulge a little, was locked. I suppose someone must've reached it before me.
"Myne! Myne!" I suddenly hear from beside me. Gon runs up to me. "We've found a circle of doors, there are seven in total, do you want to come?" he asks.
"Yes, of course. Thanks a lot," I say as I walk with him. I notice how Leorio, Kurapika, Killua, and Mandy are already standing at a door. Gon points me to one and stands next to one himself.
"Alright, see you all downstairs," Leorio says.
"Try not to die," Killua advices.
"I'm sure we'll all see each other again," Kurapika responds.
"Lets all make it together!" Gon shouts.
"Good luck," Mandy wishes everyone.
"Same to you," I answer, not much left to say. God, why do they take so long?
"Bye!" And with that Killua and Gon jump through their doors. I watch how the rest jumps through as well and after a few seconds also I jump through.
"Well, that was a short goodbye."
