I closed the door after saying goodbye to Eliza and Freddy who were taking Aria and Anna home. It was gone nine pm so I guess it was getting kind of late for Anna, plus Eliza wanted to leave us to party.
"We're leaving now too," I heard Riley's voice over the loudish music as she walked over to me. Adam was beside her and had a sleeping Poppy in his arms.
"Are you sure you're going to be okay?" I asked when I opened the door for them.
"Yeah. Adam's had a couple of beers so I'll be driving us home," Riley smiled and leant in to give me a quick hug.
"Enjoy the rest of your evening," Adam whispered quietly so as to not wake Poppy. However, if Poppy could be sparked out by this music I highly doubt her dad's voice was going to wake her. I thought it was sweet the way he dotes over her though.
I smiled and leant over to kiss Poppy on the cheek before doing the same with Adam, he returned a smile as he carried Poppy out of the door behind Riley. I gave them a quick wave goodbye and I watched the little family step into the lift.
I closed the apartment door and leant back against it, taking a moment to have a breather from the numerous people that were here tonight. I'd never socialised this much before, however, since it was Danny's birthday and a combined engagement party, that I didn't know about I might add, I thought it would be polite to get to know both Danny's and Aidan's friends a little better.
It had been almost a month since we got engaged and since then things had been amazing. Everyone at the bar was happy for us and we had an impromptu lock-in one evening to celebrate. They all could see how genuinely in love we were which helped settle my nerves about continuing to work there, in fact, I was not even sure why I was so worried in the first place.
I'd spent a lot of time with the Millers too. Eliza had taken a couple of afternoons off work to go through some ideas for the wedding but it was nice just to spend time with her, she was so motherly and loving that I really admired that about her.
My friendship with Riley had blossomed since I had spent more time with her, I had also helped her out as the pregnancy had progressed, which meant I'd been around Adam more too.
I discovered that Freddy owns a law firm, he was in fact, one of the best lawyers in town. Adam was telling me this when he mentioned that he also worked there as a lawyer and that one day he will be taking over the family business.
I hadn't spent that much time with Alex, he was definitely one of the quieter members of the family, well, that was not hard when the girls were so loud and excitable that they seemed to drown him out, which I found funny most of the time.
Alex had just finished his second year at college doing business and marketing, he wanted to work in advertising and because of that Freddy offered him an internship to work at the law firm during the summer in the marketing department so he could get some work experience.
Aria was a sweet girl, she had just finished year ten at school and will soon be entering her last year, she was smart and seemed excited to be taking her GCSEs. She also knew that she wanted to be a social worker.
I looked around the room where it was almost fit to bursting, the sofas had been pushed further nearer the wall to make way for a makeshift dance floor in the middle of the room. The breakfast bench had been turned into a bar and the lights were dimly lit to accommodate the fairy lights that had been strategically placed around the room to offer up a fun vibe.
I'd spent the last week organising this which was supposed to be Danny's party since it was his twenty-seventh birthday today, however, when the apartment was being decorated and the lights were being set up Aidan took me out for coffee as I needed a break.
