Keith groggily opened his eyes. He was no longer inside of the wormhole they escaped in, both a relief and a misfortune. "Uuuuuuugh...You okay, Red?" he asked his Lion. His response was met with silence, showing that the Red Lion was out of commission. "Okay. We'll fix you up. We had a tough battle."

Keith exited the Lion and looked left and right, seeing only desolation all around. "Where are we? Where have we landed?" His eyes suddenly widened, remembering that he hadn't crashed alone. "Shiro. Shiro?!"

The black paladin was nowhere to be seen. Telling himself to relax, Keith jumped from the Red Lion and began trekking hurriedly across the terrain. "Shiro, are you there? Answer me!" Keith desperately tried to speak through the buzzing signal in his helmet. Through the static, he was able to make out Shiro's weakened voice. "Shiro, it's Keith!" He couldn't help but chuckle in relief. "You made it."

"It takes more than a glowing alien wound, a fall from the upper atmosphere, and crashing into a hardpan surface, at what I'm guessing is about 25 meters per second squared, to get rid of me," Shiro sighed tiredly. "How are you?"

"Not good. My Lion's busted. Wait, what wound?"

"It's nothing,"

"Hang on, I'm coming,"

"Listen, Keith, is (Y/N) with you? I-I lost track of her when we got tossed out of the wormhole,"

"(Y/N)? No, I don't know where she went. Wait, she's not with you?!"

"No, she isn't,"

"Coran said that the wormhole was capable of disintegrating any living creature in direct contact with its comprehension. You don't think that she...?"

"Don't panic. She must've been scattered with Lance, Hunk, or Pidge. Better yet, maybe she managed to get to safety inside the Castle with Allura and Coran. I'm sure she'll be okay,"

"...Alright. I'll find my way to you,"

"...On second thought, you'd better hurry."

Hearing snarls in the background through Shiro's side, Keith picked up the pace and began running. "Shiro?! What happened?"

"There's several creatures,"

Before Keith could ask Shiro to specify, a geyser burst from under his feet out of nowhere. He was barely able to dodge it with his jetpack. The burst triggered more geysers to go off, turning the clearing into a minefield. Keith dashed left and right to avoid being shot up into the air. Just then, a stray geyser tripped him up and he was sent off-course, flying off a cliff. Luckily, he managed to dig his bayard into the cliffside to stop himself from falling.

"Keith, are you okay? What happened?" Shiro asked him, overhearing the scuffle.

"Minor delay, but I'm on my way," Keith grunted as he pulled himself to the safety of stable ground. "How are you?"

"I'm all right, but I'm trapped in a cave, and some nasty-looking creatures have me cornered,"

"Stay put. I'm on my way. I just have to figure this out."

Keith overlooked the gorge, wondering if there was a way across. All he wanted was to get to Shiro, but he knew the quickest solution wouldn't be the best. With a patient sigh, he walked over to a patch of moist ground, which signaled the presence of another geyser. "Patience yields focus."

"That really stayed with you, didn't it?" Shiro said, overhearing Keith talking to himself.

"You've given me some good advice," Keith stated as he kicked the ground, opening the geyser. "If it wasn't for you, my life would have been a lot different. I wouldn't have even met (Y/N)."
