"Great job fighting today, guys. We're really getting the hang of Voltron," Shiro congratulated the team as they walked back into the Castle. They had just returned from defeating a robotic beast that had attacked the local village nearby. You had managed to put your spirit guiding skills to use and had unlocked a mighty sword within Voltron.
"Seriously, how far do you think my Lion kicked that dismembered orb? Must have been like a mile!" Lance boasted. He then eyed your flirtily and wiggled his eyebrows. "Trust me when I tell you this, (Y/N): you'll prefer a man with a strong kick."
"Yeah, that'll come in handy when the Galra challenges Voltron to a soccer match," Keith agreed sarcastically.
"Hey, I did something cool and you can't handle it. I get it. But you had your chance with our kitten of the hour and you blew it. She needs the arms (and legs) of a Latino lover now,"
"Your kick ruined our balance and we ended up falling! And for the last goddamn time, I'M NOT HER EX!"
"Suuuuuure. Besides, that falling part was Hunk's fault."
"Hey!" the yellow paladin huffed off to the side, where he was listening to the whole argument.
"Save your energy for fighting Zarkon," Shiro scolded the boys as he walked past. "And I'd watch myself when it comes to hitting on my daughter, LANCE."
Lance immediately shrunk away from where he was attempting to wrap an arm around you, successfully intimidated by Shiro's stern glare. You gave Shiro a look of thanks, then quickly dashed to the bridge to meet with Allura and Coran.
"Wonderful news, everyone!" Allura announced, her eyes shining. "The Arusians wish to celebrate our victory today with a royal ball! I've recommended the Castle for the feast, and the king agreed!"
"Ooh, a party? I love parties!" Hunk squealed. "The food, the music, the dancing, the food..."
"The ladies..." Lance added, smiling with a sparkle in his teeth. Your interest was caught. Though you weren't much of a social butterfly, you still enjoyed seeing how happy and confident people looked during such celebrations. You deeply desired to be like that. Maybe, with the new act that you were still struggling to learn, you could be able to do so.
"A ball sounds like a great idea, Princess," Shiro complimented. "But are you sure that's the best idea? After all, another Robeast could attack at any time."
"Precisely. Which is why you all will stay in your paladin armor and keep your bayards at your sides, just in case," Allura assured him.
"Okay, cool, we've established our backdoor precautions, so what are we waiting for?" Lance asked the others enthusiastically. "Let's get this party STARTED!"

You fought with your hairbrush as you sat in your and Shiro's room. You were trying to get your hair in a suitable style for your first party in years, but it just wasn't working. When you heard footsteps coming down the hallway, you quickly drop-kicked your hairbrush behind your back and shattered a tile on the wall. Shiro then rounded the corner and saw you halfway into your formal attire and with messed-up hair.
He stared at you for a moment, as if he was processing the sight, then chuckled a little. "You in need of a little assistance, Sorin?"
You were about to decline when you remembered how put off Shiro had been and how bad it had made you feel when you last brushed him off. Deciding it wouldn't be a crime to accept his help just this once, you nodded and faced the mirror.
With a gentle smile, Shiro picked up the brush and began to comb through your hair. As he untangled all the knots in them, he noticed how droopy you looked. "You know...you don't have to tell me everything..." he said. "But I'm more likely to help if I know what's bothering you. That's what a father does, after all."
