After school when I walking home I heard a car horn beeping.
"Want a ride?" Spencer asked.
"Oh I don't know. If your friends pass us are you gonna tell me to get out?" I asked still annoyed at how he treated me during lunch.
"Wait, what?! Why would I do that?" Now he was just playing dumb.
"Well you didn't exactly acknowledge my presence at all when your friends arrived." I told him.
"What? No come on, I didn't do that and why are you getting mad it's not like you're my girlfriend." He protested hitting the steering wheel.
"Did I say that I'm your girlfriend now, did I?" I retorted
"Well you're certainly acting like one" he said.
"Who said I would even want to be your girlfriend?" That was a low blow but it was all I could think of at the time.
"Jen, just get in the car." He said finally.
"No, I'm not getting in the car." I said and started walking again. He drove along beside me slowly.
"Jen, get in the car." He was being quite persistent. I opened the car door and plonked myself down on the passenger side.
"Drive." I instructed looking straight ahead.
"We're going to the hospital by the way." Oh flip the hospital; I was supposed to go with Aaron to the hospital today. Crap I totally forgot about that, again.
"Uhm, Spencer could you maybe turn around and take me back to school?" I asked
"Why?" He asked slightly annoyed.
"Because I completely forgot that I had to meet Aaron after school" I said "Well where were you two going?" He enquired.
"The hospital." I said cautiously
"Then just message him to say that you'll meet him there" he said in an obvious tone.'Hey, I'll meet you at the hospital. Jenna' and I pressed send.
'Sure, see you in a minute.' He relplied.
The car ride was silent except for the faint sound of Panic! At the disco singing 'This is gospel' on the radio
When we got to the hospital Spencer and I got out and walked inside. This is starting to feel like routine for us. I saw Aaron standing by the entrance to the courtyard.
"I'll catch up with you later" I said to Spencer as I walked over to Aaron. Spencer suddenly grabbed my arm and whispered something in my ear. "Jen, be careful"
"What?" I asked confused.
"Hey, Jenna let's go" a new voice said. Spencer nodded for me to go but with a warning look.
"I'll see you later" he said letting go of my arm.
I walked towards Aaron where he led me to the courtyard with his hand on the small of my back. I wonder what Spencer was talking about. When we got to a bench Aaron started to speak.
"Let's begin, shall we?"
We sat for a while then took a few pictures of old ladies knitting on another one of the benches and a couple of leaves blowing in the wind with the hospital in the background. We had quite a few good shots but we had to make a whole Slide show presentation of pictures so we were not anywhere near finished.
"Well I think that's enough, we can come back tomorrow for more." I said turning to Aaron
"Uhm Jenna, do you maybe wanna go to a movie or something tonight?" He asked me stuttering a little. Was he nervous? Was I making him nervous?
