I got up and he led me downstairs.
"Hey Mr Adams, we're going out we'll be back later" Spencer shouted.
"Okay, have fun" I heard my dad shout from somewhere in the house.
Spencer led us to Tahoe park where he bought us each a corn dog and a mountain dew to share. We sat down on a bench facing the lake when Spencer spoke up."Let's play metaphysical I spy"
"What?" I asked puzzled.
"It's from 'Paper Towns'. It's basically I spy but the things you spy cannot be physically seen" he explained.
"Okay, I'll give it a try" I said grinning.
"But you go first"
"Okay" he agreed. He tapped his chin as if thinking of something to say.
"I spy.. something that moves us all" this game is a lot more tricky than I thought it would be.
"I swear if you say love I'm gonna have to assume that you my friend are gay because you have just been so cheesy today " I said jokingly.
"No Jen" he said in a duh tone laughing at my assumption.
"You of all people should know I'm not gay." He said wiggling his eyebrows.
"Try again" he said looking back to the river.
"Is it.." I paused. "Is it a person" I asked more confused than ever.
"No, Jen. I don't think you quite understand how this game works. The thing that I spy you cannot see, that's why it's called metaphysical - because it's a metaphor and in other words non-physical." He explained once again.
"Well then what's the point of this game?" I asked slightly annoyed.
"To loosen your mind, forget about your problems." He said.
"Okay fine." I said sighing.
"What was the answer?" I asked.
"The wind" he said simply.
"Oh. I'll try it now. I metaphysically spy.." Spencer cut me off
"You know, you don't have to say that" I rolled my eyes at him and carried on.
"I spy something strong and hot"
"Jen I told you that it has to be something you can't see." Spencer said cockily.
"No, you can't see it" I told him.
"But you can see me" I laughed and rolled my eyes.
"It's not you. Try again." I said swatting his chest
We had somehow ended up sitting really close to each other so that when I looked at him, I was right in his face. His eyes were boring into mine.
"Is it the raw chemistry between us?" He said in a low voice. I didn't know what to say, I was at a loss for words. I knew that that was not the answer but it was a good one. He inched his face closer to mine and brushed my cheek with his thumb. His first three fingers rested under my chin, they guided me until I was once again looking him straight in the eyes, only this time we were closer. I opened my mouth to speak but was stopped by the sensation of his lips connecting with mine.
We were kissing again except this time I didn't feel bad or want to pull away. I just wanted to stay like this forever. His lips were as soft as I remembered them to be and his hand held my mouth in the right place.
When we eventually pulled away Spencer brushed a finger over my mouth, placed a kiss on my forehead and wrapped his arm around my shoulder. I buried my head into the nook between his shoulder and neck.
