Katarina Du Couteau, the assassin full of sins. She's a talented assassin, the commandant's daughter, and she has the greatest respect from every Noxus citizen. Katarina's strength lays in following her heart no matter what, but her entire life chan...
'' Do you want them? '' He captures me peering into my weapons. I remain silent. '' We can do this Kat. We can at least try. ''
'' Try what? '' I speak as low as I can so Cassiopeia and her team do not hear me. '' I am not going to trust her again. You were right, she's a snake. ''
'' This snake is your sister. '' Garen reminds me of the ugly truth. '' I called her that before I find out that she was a victim, my dad's victim. ''
I can see the guilt in Garen's eyes. He hates his father's doings. He wants to help Cassiopeia as much as I want to stay away from her.
'' I've had enough Garen. I've had enough of everyone's lies. '' I resist my tears but I am always too weak in front of him. In his presence, I allow myself to feel everything at once, including weakness.
'' Don't. Don't cry. '' He stands from besides me and moves towards my weapons. He hands my daggers for me. I just look at them and their shape. My daggers weren't bought like this, they were made.
Talon and I always felt too special to be an ordinary assassin and to hold ordinary weapons. These daggers which are in front of me right now are handmade. Talon's hands created those curves inside of them. I look at them and I remember the family which I left behind. Half of them. The other half which I recently knew about is standing steps away from me. Waiting for a positive response from me.
I look at Cassiopeia and I wonder why she didn't just tell me everything from the start. Why would she make all these scenarios and then she clarifies that she needs my help?
'' So? '' Garen seeks a response from me. I don't say anything. I blankly stare at Cassiopeia and her team. I refuse to hold my daggers. Garen looks behind to face Cassiopeia. He leaves my daggers by my side and steps towards her.
'' What are you doing? '' I ask him. '' Garen? ''
'' Will you join us Katja? Will you complete what Katja started? '' Garen declares that he will help Cassiopeia no matter what my answer will be. He mentions Katja, the person who was born again with Cassiopeia's friendship.
I look at them all together. Warwick, Garen, Cassiopeia, Jinx, and Lulu. I look at the jungle's monster, the King of Demacia, the fetal Snake-woman, the Craziest Marksman, and the brightest mage. I glare at them and think why would they need me? When I don't answer Garen, they start walking away from me. I see the strongest fighters giving up on me.
'' Wait! '' I call them from behind. '' Wait for me. '' I pick up my daggers, I hang them around my thighs. I lift my two swords and run towards Garen and my sister.
'' I knew you'll give me a chance. '' Cassiopeia smiles as she pats on my shoulder.
'' I'm not doing this for you. '' I say the words which I don't mean. I only say them to hurt her.
'' Anyways. '' Warwick cuts into the conversation. '' We need a good plan to win the League championship and get to the Ionian platform. ''
'' What platform? What does this have to do with the League Championship? '' I exclaim as I am not prepared to any of the League's battles.
The League championship is the craziest event which is scheduled once every two years in order to renew the lands' commandants and captains. My father, commandant Albert always talked about the League championship and how it's forbidden for me to be part of it.
'' Are we going to join any League battles? '' I insist when I don't get an answer.
'' Garen. Please. '' Jinx exhales, she's bothered from me.
'' Let's go back to Demacia. And I'll explain to you there. '' Garen winks at Jinx, he drags me aside and leave space for them to pass. Suddenly, they all disappear. It's just me and Garen.
'' What happened? '' I ask in surprise.
'' Don't ask me. Ask the little witch. '' Garen laughs. I cannot stop the smile he draws on my face. I realize how much I am supposed to be choking, in pain, and grieving about the moments which I lived. But with Garen by my side, I don't feel anything sad, not even angry, and I don't like that at all.
'' Why did you agree that we go to Demacia? '' I ask garen.
'' Because it's the safest place for both of us. And the only place where I can explain to you everything, including the plan, without other ears around us. '' Garen explains as he extends his hand for me to hold.
I hold Garen's warm hand and we start making our path towards Demacia. On our way there, he tells me about his memories in the Leary. Every spot what it meant for him. He mentions his best friend, his soulmate, as he describes the person. What they lived together. How they saved each other from many troubles. How they lived in enemy lands and they still felt like they belong to one place. He talks about his best friend in so much excitement, his eyes sparkle, and I feel a pressure over my chest. I keep listening to him, I look at his beautiful skin, his eyes, his hair which flies with the wind, wishing this person he is talking about isn't Akali. Wishing it's not a female.
Garen and I reach the Demacian castle, we stand at the big main gate.
'' How are we going to do this Garen? '' I ask him before we step inside.
'' We must win Kat. For Cassiopeia, and for your family. '' Garen reminds me that this is a family case, and even if I won't forgive them, these people are my blood.
'' We will win. I know. But I've never been to a League championship. '' I request from Garen more explanations about the battles which we will be part of. '' Is Warwick and Jinx going to join us? '' I ask him.
'' Warwick, Jinx, Lulu and even Cassiopeia. All of us will take part of the battle Kat. You need to understand, the reason why it's the hardest championships is the variety of powers. '' Garen explains. What he describes seems nothing like the battles I've seen before.
'' You've never been to a League championship? '' Garen questions me as he sees the confusion in my eyes.
'' I've been in a one against one battle. I fought against David, and I lost it. '' I smile, hoping it'll hide the shame behind my confession.
''It's not this type of fights Kat! '' Garen laughs too loud that the guards start looking at us. '' This one is special. And I am hundred percent sure you won't lose Kat. We will all be in one team, against others, in the biggest platform of Ionia which will be in the form of a jungle. It's where the potion which will save Cassiopeia is hidden, it will make her human again. '' Garen explains the League championships and it seems impossible for me.
'' Just focus on the part that we're there for the potion not the championship, you'll do just fine. '' Garen comforts me as he pulls my hair behind my ear, giving me a better sight to his face.
'' Anyways, I'll meet you by the heart of the Leary tonight. Our team will be waiting for us there. '' Garen sees my speechless face before he leaves towards the castle. As he is about to leave, he suddenly turns around, he leans down to drop a soft kiss on my cheek and then he starts walking through the main gate again.
I don't want to do this. I insist that I don't want to save Cassiopeia, I don't want to go back to Noxus. I don't want Garen to be the enemy, because I don't feel like he is the enemy at all.
