After I lost the combat Vs David, I got grounded and had to stay home for a couple of days. As I hold my sword and stare at it, mother knocks on my door. '' Elina is here. '' She whispers to me, scared that my father will know she let someone in. I am supposed to stay isolated. That's what being grounded is for Dad.
'' Hey! '' Elina walks into my room. She locks the door behind her when mother leaves.
'' Hey. '' I coldly respond. She knows I am not numb towards her, it is the events that recently happened which made me like this. Elina takes the sword from my hand and holds it.
'' It's okay to mess things up sometimes Kat. '' She comforts me. I appreciate what she's trying to do. But it isn't working.
Nothing will make me feel better about what have been going on unless Talon speaks to me again. It isn't just him. Dad is taking his side as well as usual. The problem is this time, and for the first time, he is right to be angry for him.
'' You remember the last time you sneaked out to train? '' Elina lifts my chin so my eyes can meet hers as she speaks. '' Uncle Albert did the same thing.
He kept you grounded for a couple of days. '' She reminds me of one of the million reasons I have which made the need to rebel and decide to leave grow inside of me.
My father is against fighter girls, but I am not. I am a fighter. And I plan to become a professional one.
'' And Talon always helped me sneak out behind our father's back. '' I state another fact that made me this much sad.
'' Try to talk to him about it. '' Elina suggests. She knows that, for Du Couteaux, there are no apologies. If we want to apologize, we keep trying to make each other talkative.
The four of us know that and I've already tried this technique with both Talon and my father, but I failed.
As I am sitting in my room with Elina, trying to find a way to make my brother forgive me. Hoping that if he does, it means my father will forgive me as well. We hear violent knocks on our main door. I rush downstairs to see who it is. I find my mother standing behind the door trying to block it.
'' Mom! '' I scream. '' who is it? '' Elina and I run towards my mother and assist her with blocking the door from the comers.
'' It's another raid. '' She shortly explains. Noxus tribe haven't experienced any more raids in months now. We almost forgot how it feels like and the horror it brings around the place.
'' Keep blocking the door. I will be right back. '' I run upstairs to get my phone and call my father. He is the only one who can send those gangsters away from our home.
I stand in the middle of my room searching for my phone between the mess I left on the bed. I finally find it. Before I ring him, my eyes are on my swords, and daggers. I place the daggers around my waist and thighs. It is the way I usually dress up before leaving to train.
I hold my sword prepared for any need to use it. I ring my father a couple of times, he doesn't pick up. I am not surprised. His ignorance doesn't upset me this time. But it isn't the right time for it, this is urgent.
I am down stairs with my mother and Elina. Still pushing the door closed while the gangsters try to spread it open.
'' They murdered our commandant! '' People's shouts come from a sudden. It gets closer to our house. '' They killed Albert! '' I stare at my mother and Elina making sure they've heard the same things. My mother's face is all pale. All yellow.
'' Call him. '' My mother's voice is shaking. '' Keep calling him. '' She doesn't want to believe what they are saying. Neither do I. Suddenly, the men standing behind our door stop pushing it. They leave after they hear of my father's death.
The three of us are still behind the door just in case it is a trick. A couple of minutes pass on. Still the door doesn't move inwards.
At that moment, I slam it open and rush towards the ones who were spreading the news. They are two men, Talon's age, dressed all in black. They are walking between neighborhoods and shouting, announcing the death of commandant Albert.
'' Who killed my father? '' I run towards them. They look at me with confusion. '' Who! '' I insist on hearing an answer. I shake one of them to make him respond to me. He still doesn't say a word.
'' Hammunculus. '' His friend says. '' Commandant Hammunculus Crowngaurd. ''
This commandant always feared my father's victories and accomplishments. I heard him speak to Talon about him. His first aim is to ruin me, he said. I remember what Talon and my father spoke about Hammunculus before, and I start walking away from the two men.
'' Wait! '' I hear them calling me. But I don't stop moving away from them. '' Where are you going Kat? '' I completely ignore their voices. They don't know what it feels like to have your father murdered.
I don't know what this feeling is either. I only know that I am angry. Too angry to look back, nor to think if what I am going to do is right or wrong.
I'm focused on the blood boiling in my veins. All I see in front of me is Hamunculus between my hands. All I see is revenge. Just like he did shred my father's blood, I will shred his.
Maybe this is part of the things I never agreed with my tribe on, and especially my family, that violence solves everything.
I reach Hammunculus' tribe. They are preparing to leave the Noxarian area. I watch them as they sit outside of their vans. Laughing around as if nothing has happened.
The longer I stand there, hearing their laughter around the place, the angrier I get. I try to find Hamunculus. My eyes are searching for my next haunt.
I finally see him inside of one of those vans. I check if there are any guards around the van. I notice five giant guards standing outside of it. Holding their weapons to their chest.
This man, who doesn't even have the guts to walk alone in the street, dared to lay his hands over my father. I manage to move closer to the van, waiting for a chance to go in. Holding both of my swords and making sure my daggers are on place as well.
'' Oh come on! '' I hear a man shouting from far away. Gesturing with his hands for the guards. Inviting them for something. He walks towards them and starts insisting, pushing one guard from his arm, trying to take him with him wherever he is going.
The five men start moving away from the van. And that's my green light.
As soon as they move away from near the van, I start walking towards it in fast and silent steps. I finally reach it. I see Hammunculus inside, but I don't know how am I going to get access to the van. I take a look around it, searching for a way to get in.
I still watch my back just in case if someone else comes to guard the commandant. I read the main door. Before I hold the knob to open the door, I notice it is already half opened. I push it a bit. I still hide just in case if the commandant sees me and calls for help.
I look at him from the van's windows and he isn't moving. I allow myself inside of the van. I hold my sword prepared to get revenge for my father. It's only then when I see that Hammunculus' neck is all purple. The man was poisoned. He is already dead.
