{You can't save everyone}
"We're their next target." Namjoon spoke, his tone of voice awfully low as his eyes grew sharp and stern. He then paused, lips falling into a tight line as he seemingly pondered whether or not to reveal the Jeons main motive. The group leaned in, curious as to why the hell they were being targeted if Jungkook was still under the radar!? Namjoon slipped his hands out from his pockets, crossing them firmly over his chest as his eyes flickered over to the hacker, "Their main goal, is to successfully detain Hoseok."
Not even allowing for the group to process the information, Yoongi was quick to blurt out a sentence, "That can't be right! I saw what I saw the other day, the guy they're after has a sister in debt with the crime syndicate, Hoseok can't-"
The sound of a shattering object cut the conversation short, snapping the groups attention over to the source of the sound.
Wearing nothing but a blank expression, Hoseok's computer had slipped out from underneath his arm. The corner was first to hit the ground, forming a dent before the screen shattered and the keys of the keyboard broke off with their impact with the ground. Hoseok didn't even care that his computer had broken, he didn't even have a readable expression, eyes wide, lips parted as he just stared into blank space.
"It was them." Hoseok uttered, and finally his expression began to change. He gritted his teeth, knuckles turning white as he bawled his hands into tight fists by his side, "For five motherfucking years I've spent hours and hours of my time searching for whoever messed with my sister... only to now find out it was them." he paused, supporting a pained expression as he ran his hands through his hair, "What was she doing with the Jeons!?" he shout, voice cracking at the end as he held back his tears.
Yoongi's eyes grew wide, "But that doesn't make sense!"
"Actually, it does." Seokjin butted in, letting out a sigh, "Hoseok's sister was murdered, and for what? We always knew that there must've been some sort of good explanation as to why a girl as kind and fun loving as Hoseok's sister ended up with a bullet through her skull." Seokjin's eyes went wide once he realised the words that had just left his lips. He turned to Hoseok, "Sorry..."
Hoseok shook his head, "It's fine, really..."

/ Five Years Ago /
Slapping his baseball cap over his head, Hoseok's blonde hair fell softly over his lashes as he rubbed at his tired eyes. With his backpack slung over his shoulder, Hoseok strolled his way down the streets of Busan eyes cast high as he nodded his head to the music blasting through his earphones. The cords became tangled, but he didn't care too much about little things like that, a smile working its way across his face as he thought about taking his family out for dinner later tonight to celebrate his mother's birthday.
With a slight skip in his step, Hoseok continued down the streets, the soft glow of the streetlights illuminating the path ahead until he spotted the familiar flicker of the neon sign of the convenience store. The store where he worked.
Hoseok enjoyed his life, for it was quite simple. At nineteen, he pretty much had everything in routine. Wake up before sunrise and take the morning shift at the convenience store, attend university lectures at noon and take a dance class at night. It was nice, and he enjoyed it. Good grades, fun hobbies, loving family... what more did a person need?
Letting out a cold breath, Hoseok made it to the glass doors of the store. Casually tugging his earphones off from his ears, he tangled them up, shoving them into his pocket before slipping out the keys to the door. The keys jittered together as he slipped one of them into the lock, twisting it and swinging open the door.
He hummed a small tune under his breath, stepping inside the pitch black room before closing the door behind him. Turning around he slid a hand blindly over the wall, locating the light switch and flicking it on. One by one rows of the overhead light strips lit up the store, and Hoseok was quick to turn towards the counter, but then his eyes locked onto something else,
and his body went weak.
He simply froze, eyes wide, limbs stiff as his gaze landed over a body laying in the middle of the store. Blood trickled from their forehead, their body limp. And all Hoseok could seem to do was stare once he recognised the girl's long raven hair, tacky choice of fashion and chipped nails. Her usual golden skin had fallen into something ashen, her loving eyes now blank and void.
That day was the day Hoseok broke, the day he fell to his knees and sobbed. His cries sounded more like screams of horror as he collapsed against the floor of the convenience store, hands trembling as he brought them to his face. He didn't want to look anymore, he couldn't bring himself to face the reality as his adrenaline kicked in.
He launched to his feet, hot tears still streaming down his face as he ran into the back room. Firing up the computer systems and logging in to check the security footage. He searched like a mad man, but it was gone, the security footage had been wiped between the times of 4am and 5am.
He was ten minutes too late
It was after that day that Hoseok felt something snap in him, his life had been torn apart by that one event and he found himself loosing his sanity in the following months.
He had never been interested in computer systems before, but all of a sudden he found he had a knack for it. He refused to go home and face the reality of his sister being dead, so instead, he took to the streets. He spent most of his days in internet cafes across the country, a can of soda or energy drink by his side as he typed away at the keyboard, bloodshot eyes scanning the computer screen as he began to search for any information on his sister's death. The government had ruled it off as a simple murder, but Hoseok knew from how much blood there was, that this was much, much more then that. His sister wasn't shot at the convenience store, she was dumped there, almost as if it were a message of warning.
For hours on end, Hoseok was on the computer. His hacking skills developed in no time after he had taken to the internet for information. He looked for revenge, but the internet could only take a person so far... so he turned to the illegal side of things. He was hacking into government systems and security. Then into police systems and police files. He never found the killer,
But Bangtan instead.
