"(L/N), I didn't know you work on Saturdays too." Kita said.
My eyes snap to the two's conversation.
...
So, Kita-san... Knows (L/N)?
"I'm just filling in for a colleague last minute," she briefly explains.
(L/N) smiles modestly at him like how she would casually smile at me. In fact, she gives the same smile to everyone she talks too I've noticed now.
Without a doubt, she is a nice girl, actually very good to everyone. Smiling politely like that I especially believe is one of her iconic actions and is always presented so much which makes my eyebrow twitch in irritation.
I didn't like that. Her smiling at everyone as if she knows them so well.
Shaking off my thoughts and shifting everything aside, I spoke up, "Ah I see is that why ya couldn't come to see me?"
She glances at me once I spoke up and laughs apologetically even though there was no necessity, "...Yes kinda, sorry about that."
To confirm, it's not like I'm disappointed that she didn't come. It's just the fact that I was really expecting her to be there knowing what she's like. (L/N) seemed so excited earlier this morning when I told her I had volleyball practice and wanted to see me play, hence I assumed her excitement would lead her to eventually be there.
I wanted to open my mouth to tell her that it's not a big deal and that she an apology wasn't necessary. However, I was too slow, Kita interrupted our casual conversation.
"You can come next time." He says placing an ice lolly packet on the counter, "You can even help out in during practice if you like."
"Oh? Oh alright I'll see if I have time," She splutters out, "Well, that will be 115 yen."
What is happening? Do they know each other...? She just gave the most minimalistic answer to his suggestion though.
"Kita-san..." I intervene, "Don't ya think my little girlfriend is cute?"
I pulled a hopeful smile and stared at both their faces.
Kita's face was unfazed and unchanged as ever, however (L/N) had this lightly blushed pink across hers. Her lips also pursed into a thin line since it was clear she was trying to slightly bite down the urge to smile.
"Yeah." Kita replies to me blatantly and places some coins on the table where (L/N) puts in the register.
"Eh, Atsumu that's your girlfriend??" I hear Suna behind me say, eyeing a bit on (L/N) in confusion. He walked over, placing a bag of chips on the counter too.
I nod in reply, my proud smile staying plastered on my face.
The cash register makes a metallic ding sound, reverberating in the shop and breaks the shortly quiet atmosphere.
