"You wanted to see me?" Kita says shuffling slightly when you come up to him.
Getting home was easily manageable, with problems after dropping Atsumu at his place. He did say he wanted to hang out with you more, but you unfortunately already had plans with family later tonight as well as this quick meet up with a friend, Kita.
Right now, it was just you and him outside of your front door, an awkwardly familiar scenario for him. The long, heavy rain stopped earlier too, but it was still terribly gloomy and looked like the showers will continue again later.
"Yeah." You reply as your face shifts from neutral to something completely serious.
He looks at you with small signs of uneasiness, "Well then. What is the matter (Y/N)?" Kita asks.
For a couple of seconds you had to pause to collect your words, staring at him whilst he starts avoiding eye-contact by looking down shamefully every so often. It was only you who can waver make his usual stern expression, in this case, it was not in a good way.
"You've been avoiding me haven't you?" You confront, with a sharp inhale beforehand. Your used-to-be bright and polite tone was now more bitter, but oddly not threatening in any way at all. Not even your own boyfriend has seen that side of you, but Kita now will.
"The only time I've seen you properly was when you came to deliver your Grandma's vegetables for me. Other than that...Where have you been? What's going on? You don't even reply to messages anymore. In fact, you don't even look at them."
You weren't stupid with these tactics. You weren't angry at your friend either. But you were sad that he has stopped seeing and talking to you with no notice. The lack of communication from him got you fed up and confrontation then eventually occurred.
The atmosphere walled around the two of you was figuratively dense, especially since he's still not looking back at you and is deathly silent. "What's going on?" You ask again.
It's not okay to be selfish by asking someone who may be dealing with a lot to suddenly come meet up to get confronted, but it couldn't be helped. It was a piece of shit feeling being avoided by someone you deeply care about worry for. It was an even shittier feeling watching him roam away from you after having such a solid, good friendship and being comfortable around each other a couple of weeks prior.
"Sorry." He finally spoke and finally gazed up to your face too, still somber and quiet.
Your lips were pursed together in a thin line and your eyebrows furrowed, "For what?"
He was beginning to struggle to barricade his preserved filter.
Why must this be so difficult? He thought, Why now of all times?
"I just―I don't think I can be around you." His tone was slightly choked, possibly a bit rude, though it was in fact accidental. It shocked you a bit and pain hit against your chest, which caused your eyes to widen.
