"Heh, are you nervous?" Suna asks from behind, he pokes my elbow to grab my attention.
"Yeah, not way too rattled though," I say gazing at the massive crowd in front of me.
It was the opening ceremony of the nationals for Volleyball, loud music, loud cheers, and standing in the middle of several large courts.
Saturday finally came. Nationals are here...
The long-awaited Nationals that all of us been so hyped for. Our team, representing the Hyogo prefecture, has been training extra hard to get where we are now and I really couldn't be more proud.
Of course, I'm nervous. I'm nervous to bits right now, especially now that there is that massive swarm of people in every corner watching us, not to mention the television crew.
But I'm also confident in my team as well. We weren't going to let our hard work go to waste so easily.
Currently, we were standing in a line with our teams as well as other teams. And every single team here is representing a prefecture or city; both males and females players were on the same courts as us, and gosh. There was overwhelmingly too many.
Do not overthink, I kept telling myself. It must be the adrenaline.
"Oi Tsumu, face forward the speech isn't done." Osamu harshly whispers. I was unsure how he noticed what I was doing, he's in front of me and not moving his head an inch.
"Don't tell me what to do." I angrily whisper back.
All announcements and details were given out during the speech, but I was paying little to no attention. I knew that we had our first game as soon as court 2 was free, but I wasn't listening carefully enough to recall who we will supposedly be playing against.
Before we play our match, we can simply just watch other teams' games or prepare ourselves before the match, warm-ups, and stuff. But when looking at other teams play, I felt a mix of hopefulness, nervousness, and excitement constantly down my arms and back, all at the once, this feeling was weirdly keeping my motivation at its best, to the peak.
"I feel a storm comin' Samu," I smirk at him.
"It's not that windy or rainy outside though," he jokingly replies.
"I'm talking about the matches dumbass not the heckin' weather! It's a metaphor!"
"Okay. "
I grumpily sigh at his reply and asshole tendencies. I'm not gonna get this petty attitude to ruin my moment, certainly not.
"Osamu, Atsumu!" Aran calls us out from a distance. "We are playing soon come here to warm-up!"
"Yeah, yeah we're coming!" I shout back.
