Our Winter/New years break has finally started.
However, (L/N) caught a mild cold, most likely due to what happened in the swimming court two days ago. I found out only today when I saw her walking home from grocery shopping with four plastic bags, two in each arm after my Sunday Volleyball practice. She looked awfully tired, was even wearing a facemask and everything.
I felt kinda bad watching her do errands even though she was sick so I decided to help her like the lovely gentleman I am. And I ended up hanging out with her round her house by kindly inviting myself in.
"(L/N)-san." I say.
"Hm?"
"Stop reading that booooooooooook..." I complained and rolled over. I was lying flat on my stomach on the floor in (L/N) house, scrolling through my phone unmotivating-ly.
There was nothing to do after practice, my house is occupied with Osamu and I didn't want to talk to him since he never wants to converse with me properly. I was also petty that he left to go home without me.
But luckily, I bumped into (L/N) along the way!
She said she was free too, so I decided to crash to her place but she isn't really doing much talking since she says she feels idle.
"It's...It's not a book... It's my art portfolio." She says, dropping her scissors and colored paper to look at me, a little tiredly.
"Can I look at it?"
"Yes of course." she gestures her hand at me to come over, so I scooted closer to her, grinning a bit.
I get handed the booklet and start to curiously scan through the pages, gently turning it to avoid any damage. It was definitely eye-catching, certainly impressive. The layout of her works was consistently done tidily and the writing was always neat, without a single mistake.
However, a lot of the pictures were of her dog and nature scenery, all taken very nicely and professionally.
One page was dedicated to her family and friends. I frown a bit when I see a selfie of Kita and her, then scoff and turn the page.
Of course, Kita.
"We should take pictures together too," I gruff in annoyance.
I felt her smile at me behind her face mask, "Haha we definitely should." She starts to tidy the crafting items on the Kotatsu desk.
"Oi, (L/N)-san," I say, still flipping from page to page.
"Yes?"
"Are ya planning to do anything after high school?"
She goes quiet for a couple of seconds to think but then chuckles hopelessly after, "Honestly, I have no idea really. Maybe I might try to do a major in nursing."
"Eh?! Hospital Nurse?" I laugh placing the portfolio to the side, "I thought you would be a photographer or somethin' arty like that."
"Haha, photography and art is great and all, I really do love it, but the industry is quite competitive, making a living out of it will be difficult for me, so I want to just keep it as a hobby," She says while adjusting her mask. "I don't want to earn money out of something as a hobby either or else it might not be fun anymore."
I tuck my legs deeper into the kotatsu for warmth and rest my arms on the wooden frames, "Well then, why nursing?"
She sniffles and adjusts her face mask, "I think there's just something appealing about helping people, I like those kinds of jobs."
