Chapter 23

Ellison Taylor

I went to the grocery store right after work. I was trying to reach for a bag of chip at the top shelves when someone else reached for the bag and I looked at the person and was surprised to see El.

"Ellison?" He said surprised. "What are you doing here?" He asked as he handed me the bag of chip. "I mean apart from grocery shopping. I mean at this neighbourhood?"

"Hello El." I said with a smile. Maybe I'm older now or maybe I'm more mature than before, but meeting him made me happy and I even doubted myself for a moment. My old self would still have been holding grudge on him, but I guess forgiveness is what I can do to help myself move on. "I live around this neighbourhood."

His hair was swept up and he still looked handsome like before. He was wearing an expensive suit and dress shoes making him look out of place in this grocery store, but in a good way.

"You look different in a good way, of course." He said. I know, considering the field that I'm working in. It is expected that I dress exceptionally well at all time because my boss, Taylor said we have to be up to trend and people should know just by looking at us that we work for the fashion industry. Make sense, but it's too much.

"Thanks." I said, awkwardly at his compliment. "You look great as well."

He laughed. "Thanks. What are you up to these days?"

"Nothing much." I said. "What about you?"

"I just came to pick up some snacks." He said. "Cooper is actually in the car. Would you like to meet him?" He asked hopeful and at the same time he watched my reaction.

"Sure. It's been a while..." I said.

"You've any plan?" He asked.

"Just grabbing groceries and heading home."

"We can get coffee if you would like."

"Definitely." I said.

Cooper looked the same, bubbly and handsome. He give me a tight hug as soon as he saw me.

"You go, girl!" He cheered. "You look beautiful like always."

I wondered what if things went differently? Would Claire and him work out as a couple? I felt guilty that Claire ended his friendship with all of them after that incident. She said she doesn't trust any of them as they were protecting Ian all that time by hiding the truth from us.

"How are you doing?" He asked.

"Very well, thanks. How about you?"

"Good." He said shrugging.

"Ellison said she is free to go and grab some coffee, now."

"That's perfect." Cooper said. "We need to catch up."

I give them a smile. I didn't buy much from my grocery lists as most of them were frozen items that I needed to purchase. We ended up in a quiet cafe.

"I'll have cake." I said. "I had a drink before I went grocery shopping."

"You had it without us?" Cooper pouted. "I'm kidding." He laughed when I was preparing myself to give him an explanation and I laughed.

We avoided topic about Ian. Cooper seemed very interested in Claire and asked me what she was doing.

"She is working as an financial advisor in the bank." I said.

"Very interesting." Cooper said. "You think she wants to hang out with us?"

I believe Claire will actually be glad to meet them. She did grow up along with me and I believe she wants to move on as well.

"I'll let her know about this."

"Then we should exchange numbers again." El smiled.

"Of course." I said as we exchanged numbers.

I left the cafe at around 5 pm, Cooper and El said they will be staying here for a little longer. I was in a hurry to go back to the supermarket to finish my grocery shopping. By the time I reached home it was 5:50 pm and I was exhausted. I took a quick shower and decided to just eat Mac and cheese for dinner. Easiest and quickest meal. While eating, I replied to mails and any other important messages. Claire texted me saying, she will think about meeting them and I wondered if this decision had to do with that incident and I couldn't help but feel guilty about it.

The next morning while driving to work. I noticed a black Tesla following behind me. I changed lanes to see if the car will do the same and when they did. I was pretty much more alert now, but then they drove passed me and I sighed in relieved.

"You got a meeting this morning at 10 am." Rosa, my secretary handed me the iPad as soon as I walked inside the office. I am so happy and grateful for having a secretary to help with my work load. Rosa has been working with me for a while now.

"Good morning Rosa." I said. "So pleasant to be greeted that way."

"Sorry, Ms.Taylor." She apologized.

"I'm kidding." I sighed. "You should relax a bit more."

"I think same goes for you." She said and quickly apologizes.

"Thanks for your honesty. Maybe we should loosen up a bit." I agreed with her. "Taylor is here?" I asked.

"Not yet. She's coming to work at 11 am." I nodded my head and looked at the iPad. I scrolled through the sales chart and sighed, "We need to work on our advertisement." I said to Rosa who typed on her iPad. We waited for the elevator while discussing about what we lacked this time.

The door opened and I see him for the very first time after that incident. He was scrolling on his phone, frowning. He looked beautiful as ever with white polo-shirt and dark blue jeans and adidas shoes. His hair was messy, but made him so drool worthy.

He didn't notice us while he was walking out with people following him out of the elevator.

"Right, you have a group meeting this afternoon with the production team as well." Rosa said as soon as she got inside the elevator with me.

"Hold the door for me!!" I heard Kingsley before he slipped right into the closing elevator.

"What are you doing?" I asked quickly pressing the stop button. He stood in front of me and smiled. His one hand with bouquet of chocolates and the other was holding his bag.

"For you." He said. I shake my head and left the stop button. He stood beside me and looked at me expectedly.

"What is this for?" I asked.

"I just saw this and thought of you."

"I didn't know they make this without any pre- order."

"Then you are very unaware of all the beautiful stores around you." He said.

"Give it to Rosa." I said.

"Rosa can have one." He said taking out one stick which was filled with chocolates.

"Thanks, I appreciated it." Rosa said sarcastically.

"No worries." He winked at her and looked at me. I took the bouquet before the door opened to the floor to my office.

"See you later." He waved me goodbye and I shake my head as I waved him back with a small smile.
