Kirsty's POV:

The rain was really coming down tonight, and for the last few hours the lights have been flickering. There was probably going to be a power cut soon. Luckily, Maddie's nightlight was battery operated so we wouldn't have to worry about her waking up in pitch black. We had put her to be a couple of hours ago, she was really tired today and we wanted her sleeping through the night.

"I found the candles." I heard Jack say as he entered the living room, I was sat by the windowsill with Vogue on my lap as we watched the rain together.

"Great, at least we don't have to keep using our phone torches should the power goes out." I said, I moved away from the window and carried Vogue with me to sofa so I could snuggle up with Jack. I curled up to Jack's side, he wrapped his arms around me and Vogue decided to lie down on his stomach. Vogue was a little bit weary of the weather so she was staying close to us, it was pretty cute.

We laid there for almost an hour, I could feel my eyelids getting heavier and heavier as I grew more and more tired. It had been a long day playing with Maddie and the comfy position was making me very sleepy.

"You tired, Bub?" Jack asked me, I nodded into his chest. I was definitely ready for bed.

"Alright then, lets go to b-" Part way through Jack's sentence we heard a massive CLAP of thunder, it rolled around the streets like an echo and it startled the both of us.

"Oh my God!" I said in shock, I wasn't expecting that at all. The forecast was only for heavy rain, possibly a power cut but there was no mention of thunder and lightning.

"Oh Christ, I hope that didn't wake up Maddie." Jack said, Vogue had jumped off of Jack and ran under the kitchen table. I was definitely awake now, so I expect that Maddie would be awake now too.

"Mummy! Dwaddy!" We heard her cry from her bedroom, poor baby.

"We're coming, Baby!" I called back as me and Jack both got up from the sofa. We opened her bedroom door and found her sat up in her little toddler bed, she was clutching her teddy bear and had tears running down her face.

"Aww Sweetheart, it's okay, we're right here." I said as I crutched down and pulled her into my lap, she snuggled into me and I lightly bounced her on my knee. I noticed that her pyjamas felt a bit wet, Jack quickly looked at her bed and gave me a look to sort of confirm that Maddie had an accident.

"Maddie, did you go wee wee?" I asked her, leaning her into my arms so I could see her adorable face, she was still sobbing and sniffling. She nodded slowly.

"I-I s-sowwy." She blubbered, she was struggling to speak because of how hard she was crying. She probably felt a little ashamed of herself as she was doing really well with potty training, it was her first accident in a while.

"Sh-sh-sh, it's alright Baby. You just got a bit scared, didn't you?" I tried to reassure her and calm her down, she cried into my chest as I rubbed her back. The lights around the house flickered again, Jack went to the light switch and tried to turn the lights on but nothing happened.

"Power cut." Jack announced, that was just brilliant. Maddie whimpered and gripped onto my jumper, she was tired and uncomfortable.

"Come on, Baby Squish, lets get you a nice bath." I said as I gently picked up my Baby Girl, Jack lit a candle and led the way into the bathroom. Jack put the candle on the side of the bath and started running the water, putting in her favourite bubble bath in too. I got Maddie undressed, I put her pyjamas and underwear in the laundry bag.
