"Ok," Zara said slowly as she stood and stared at the masses of paper laid out in front of her. "What does this all mean."

Violet looked up at her from where she sat reading a book. "Well, that depends. What are we talking about?"

Zara sagged her shoulders and let out a breath. "I'm trying to understand everything that is going on. Don't you want to know?"

Violet let out a strange smile again. "I'm not going to lie; I don't find I really ever need to know the full story. I'm just along for the ride as long as I need to be. I am not particularly central in this quest of yours, I'm just here until its time to go."

Zara stared at her. "You're a really fascinating person, did you know that?"

Violet blinked at her in surprise mouth open for a second before shaking her head with a soft smile on her lips.

Zara stared back at her paper before her and began to think it all through.

Cassie was a normal human by all accounts, sure she had a bit of werewolf in her but she was not in any way different. Yet, this human was being targeted. Zara thought back about how she had been assigned to her human charge. Cassie was a teenager, and her supposed destiny was laid out in front of her already. The council had seemed sure, and she'd been taught for so long to obey the council at all costs. Cassie was important. Someone wanted Cassie dead.

That brought the question of Dorian. How had someone stepped into his body? How long had they been invading the angel realm? What did it mean? Someone had figured out Cassie was important in some way and decided to kill her without raising alarms. That meant changing her destiny to the point where she would die. That was a difficult feat, to change so many things about a person's life. Yet, angels didn't question things. They did as they were told, and therefore it could be easy for someone to simply lie. Zara herself had done it to escape.

Then there was the issue of Zara herself. She knew for certain she was an angel, but yet she'd always felt different. Hundreds of years had been spent burying emotions and feelings. She had spent so long trying to deny what she felt and accept that she was broken in some way. Yet, maybe it was time to fully understand. She couldn't deny it. As she stood here on earth in a human body Zara understood that survived for one reason.

She had a soul.

It was undeniable. In a way she'd know for a long time, but she'd never been able to admit it. Zara didn't understand how it was possible. Angels with souls had been extinguished centuries ago after the angel rebellion. There was no one left after that except the original twelve.

And the original twelve. Why did Zara know their names? Why did she hate them so much? She had no idea; all she knew that she despised them with a unnatural hatred. It was odd, and something she would need to think about on a later basis.

Her top priority was Cassie, where she was and why they were after her.

"I've got to get to her," Zara whispered out.

Violet glanced up. "Pardon?"

"My human charge," Zara explained. "Before I fell to this realm, I was charged with protecting a human girl. Her name is Cassandra, and I'm fairly certain she is the most important person on this earth right now."

Violet raised her eyebrows and her eyes twinkled with the barest flash of interest. "What makes her special?"

Zara ran a hand through her hair, before getting it tangled in the thick mass. She frowned and pulled her hand out quickly and regained her composure. "I don't know exactly. She is amazing in practically every way, but there isn't anything particularly 'world ending special' about her in a traditional sense?" Zara paused. "That's not true. Everything about her is special."
