Mary stared out at the sea of monstrous creatures and yawned.

Reg raised a single eyebrow at her, "You do not see how magnificent our army is?"

"I mean, they all seem a little bit of a mess. How do you suppose we control them?"

Reg sighed, "It's not about control. The whole point of this endeavour is to avoid control. We want freedom for all species, and to do that we unleash these upon the world. They will no doubt see anyone who tries to stop them as non-believers, withholders of peace and they will kill them. The world will burn for a while, but everything will be in its natural order once more."

Mary nodded lazily. "This all sounds so grand. The world a ball of fire and no one to rule."

"It's not about ruling. Before they locked us away down here, the world was free, and it was beautiful. The angels withheld everything from us."

"What about the council members that you once had? Did they believe in this free world you speak of?" She asked it tauntingly. She had learned a few things since being down here, such as like the other realms there had once been a council of the underworld. They had all since gone 'missing'.

The underworld had been different once, but obviously a war had been undertaken and it destroyed everything. Grand buildings were burned to the ground, there was only torture pits and growling demons remaining. The purpose of the burning underworld had long be forgotten and replaced with only pain. The only one left to recall a time before this was Reg. It had been Reg who orchestrated it all, which Mary had to admit was impressive.

He grimaced at her jab, his eye narrowing. "The other council members blindly believed the angels and did whatever they were told. They did not want to see change, so they were removed."

"Because your way is always the right way?"

Reg sneered, stepping closer so they were almost nose to nose. He towered over her, but she did not back down or flinch. She stared at him, with raised eyebrows in such a way that she taunted him.

"You are beginning to be more trouble then your worth," he growled out, voice not above a whisper.

Mary smirked. "Without me, without everything I have done you'd be sitting in your dark and dreary office moping about how unfair everything is. I have done everything."

"You haven't killed Cassandra Sung, have you?"

Her smirked dropped. "No, but that shouldn't be a problem. We have an insider in the pack house, he can kill her then."

Reg rolled his eyes and stepped away. "You keep trying to kill her, but it isn't that important. We don't need her dead anymore. The whole point of killing her originally was to devastate her mate so completely he couldn't stop us. That no longer matters, instead we will just kill him on the battlefield. There will be no other alpha elected and therefore no one to stop us. Once we have the gates open, we can just rush out and kill all of them."

Mary stared at him. "And that's the only way to close the portal, right?"

He waved a hand. "There is technically another way but no one knows how. It involves something that everyone up there severely lacks."

"And what's that?"

"A good soul," Reg said with a bark like laugh. "Don't worry it is a foolish little thing I put in to annoy an angel. It wouldn't work anymore, the humans and every other creature are to corrupt and twisted now it would be impossible."

Mary narrowed her eyes before shrugging her shoulder. "As long as no one else know that's, we're fine."

He gave a entitled little nod and turned on his heel. Mary watched him survey the troops and turned back to the gateway.
