Zara stared at the map, squinting her eyes in concentration.
"Yeah, I don't know how to read maps," she finally admitted.
Violet sighed, running a hand through her hand. "Why did you have to argue that for five minutes instead of just admitting the truth?"
Zara shrugged sheepishly. "I thought it would be easy. It isn't. I have no idea where Cassie is."
Violet crossed her arms and leaned against the wall. "My suggestion is that we got to the train station and I just pick a train for you to go on. It will probably send you in the right way."
Zara frowned at her. "You're not coming with?"
Violet let out her odd little smile. "I told you I don't really interfere. That's not really apart of my job here. I just give nudges occasionally or cause certain things. I don't need to know anymore. I'm pretty sure I was just here to pick you up from the middle of that road."
Zara bowed her head, not wanting to admit she was hurt. She didn't particularly know all that much about friends, but she thought that she was possibly becoming one with Violet. They talked to each other a bit and stayed in the same room. Violet had taught her how to eat food and understand what certain stomach feelings meant. They had bonded, hadn't they?
Maybe not.
The last few days in the hotel room had been, well to put it shortly, a lot.
Being human was difficult. There were so many bodily functions that Zara needed to figure out. There were so many stomach aches that meant different things, there were so many sensations in her mouth region. She was absolutely shocked how stupid the human throat was. She had to drink, swallow and breathe from it, use it to talk and all sorts of things. The amount of times she'd choked was astounding before she'd finally gotten the hang of it.
Violet had been there the whole time to help, to push along and explain things. Zara honestly had no idea what she would have done without Violet here with her. Violet was so incredibly helpful, but she had no idea on how to find Cassie.
All Zara was sure of was that it had been nineteen days since she'd been with Cassie. She had been in the angel realm for twelve human days, but only a few hours to her. Time worked so erratically up there she hadn't realised until Violet read the date. The other seven days were spent with Violet attempting to teach her basic human features and abilities.
Zara didn't know why Cassie was special, or who the soulmate was, but it was obviously big. Someone had risked running into the angel realm and changing fate itself. This was not something she was prepared for.
But- maybe she was.
Why did Zara know people's names she shouldn't have? Why did she have flashes of memories of something she had never before experienced? What was she?
That would probably need to wait unfortunately.
Zara turned to Violet, resting her head on her hand. "I think you should stay," she admitted quietly.
Violet offered a kind smile, which was clearly filled with pity. "I don't."
And then Violet let out a choking noise. Her eyes widened dramatically, her body seizing up and her mouth open. Zara leapt to her feet, hands buzzing around in concern but not knowing what to do. She barely caught Violet before she collapsed.

Violet was lying in the middle of the field, staring up at the sky. Everything was dark around her, with a silence so intense she felt as if she had just gone deaf. Yet, there was no reason to panic.
With a small sigh, Violet sat up and tucked her knees against her chest. The world around her began to rush past, night becoming day in seconds. Wind picked up and blew her hair forward, covering her eyes. When she brushed it back, she was standing in a dark hallway. The walls were scarred with clawed finger marks, the only light from dim flaming torches placed in brackets on the wall. She turned and flinched at the woman standing there. Dark hair and red eyes stared through her and Violet followed her gaze.
A large black stone archway stood there, made of black marble and sucking in all light into its void. Runes were etched into the stone, but Violet could not see any of them enough to make them out. She stared at the archway in confusion before light broke through so intense it made her wince. She held her hand in front of her eyes and when she dropped her arm, she was standing in a field again.
She flinched in surprise at another girl standing in front of her, so close Violet thought their nose could have been touching. The girl had Asian features, with dark brown hair and dark eyes which stared through Violet, her lips open slightly in shock. Violet took an uneven step back and followed her gaze.
Rows and rows of large beasts stretched out. Wait, not beasts. They were wolves.
They sat with their haunches bristled and teeth bared. They stared outward, towards something. Violet turned her head and the girl was gone.
The world spun and changed, but she was still in the field. Everything was so dim in dark. A light broke through, making her flinch once again. Violet stepped forward and followed it and realised it was another archway to the one before. Violet stared in and saw fire. She stumbled back and tripped.
She landed with a silent thud on her back. She winced and used her elbows to bring herself upright and saw what had tripped her.
The girl from before lay there, arms splayed out awkwardly and hair fanned out around her. Brown eyes stared out empty, with a trickle of blood escaping her lips.
Violet turned her head, closing her eyes so she wouldn't need to keep seeing. When she opened them she was still in the field but it was day. Yet, it was a different form of day. The sun looked almost red, washing out all colour. There was no grass or trees, everything had been burnt to ashes. Violet slowly stumbled to her feet.
At her feet was still the body of the unknown girl, but it was nothing but bleached bones now. Violet slowly gazed around, and realised bones lay everywhere. A shaking hand slowly covered her open mouth in shock as she looked at this field of death.
"This is what's coming." A woman stood there wearing dark clothes and a leather jacket. An ornate braid swung over her shoulder and golden eyes stared outward with such intensity it made Violet flinch. Her finger slowly raised and pointed towards the pale bones of the girl. "Find her."

Zara held Violet awkwardly in her arms, not sure what to do with the girl who had just seemingly fainted five seconds ago. She didn't need to wait long before Violet gasped. She tensed and jerked, causing Zara to drop her in surprise.
"I'm sorry!" Zara yelled out as Violet landed on the ground awkwardly.
Yet, the psychic didn't seem to hear her, staring blankly up at the ceiling with heaving breaths.
"I know where we need to go."
