When Steven left, Spinel thought about how pleasant it was for him to be there. They could talk about dank memes or just stay quiet while being sniggled up. Or sometimes he'll feed her like they used to do, with Spinel being the overgrown baby and Steven being papi. She liked it especailly when he brought candy or something sweet, since she was never able to eat sweets when she was younger. She could would clear her mind of her broken childhood, and....
Pink.
Where was she? Why did she leave her in the garden? Was she ever coming back? So many questions tensed her about her long-missing mother. It wasn't like her dad gave a shit or two about her. Otherwise he wouldn't have left. It took her years, now, to realize she was a mistake. Pink obviously didn't want her, just leaving the child in the garden for 6 weeks and never made a return. Had she even gotten any of the letters Spinel told White to give her? Well, White insisted on doing so for some reason, so she was depending on that. Maybe she got them but just ignored them. Spinel had been writing to Pink since a month after her aunts found her; dehydrated, exhausted, malnutrioned. And that was a long LONG time ago. Around 7 or 8 or maybe 9 or 10.
Whatever age it was, they didn't affect her lightly. Going from a young child with a broken childhood, to a depressed drug addict and alcoholic. Why did she start drinking, or doing drugs? She's never thought about that. One day her addiction had just....started. And since then, depression and earning money to make sure Pink was ok after she sent it to her was her daily routine. Spinel wondered how many times she's threatened Volley or just said something mean to her when she was drunk or in a hangover. Volley was most likely glad Steven came along and somehow got rid of her drinking addiction.
Just not the smoking, for some reason.
Thinking back, her addiction had a pro to it, and one alone. Spinel would always be distracted from knowing she was a failed abortion. Not that anyone told her that, but the signs were obvious. Dad didn't want her, neither did Pink. Some of her relatives don't even know she's alive, or yet Pink had a daughter at all. She was pretty sure her aunts, and thier own daughters, couldn't stand her as well. But of course, to her that wasn't her problem, was it?
Now that she thinks about it, did Pink even know who the dad was? Or maybe she drove him off, and not Spinel? Spinel didn't know why she was thinking about this...it'll only make her realize more that it's easy to fake your love for someone; for your child, for a parent, for a loved one. Great, depression rate all the way up. She knew no one wants her. That's why sometimes she thinks she's better off in the streets, where she belongs.Still, she's still waiting.
Still hoping for a letter from Pink.
Still wishing to be reunited with her, even if she wasn't the best mother. Spinel loved her. Not as in incest, but Pink was all she had. She was a monster, yes, but it didn't change the fact Spinel waited in the garden and is still waiting fo a sign from Pink. Even if it's just one letter in her lifetime, she just wanted to see her again...
If that was even possible.
"What did I do wrong, mom?" Spinel muttered to herself as she thought about Pink. "Was I not good enough?" She could feel her eyes sting, signaling some tears were about to fall. But she didn't let them. Crying wasn't going to bring her mom back. Tears weren't going to help matters. If Pink saw her crying like that, Spinel didn't think she'd really care. As a kid, tears made Pink feel a little bad. All she'd say was ,
"It's alright, Spinel."Which really didn't help matters.
Usually in her depressed state, she'd go into her mother's garden, filled with pink roses and vines of all sorts. She couldn't remember the last time she'd been there. The plants are probably dead by now.
