9 - Inner Energy

"What's wrong with Wei Ying?" Lan Zhan anxiously asked the doctor who was about to take Wei Ying's pulse.

The doctor read Wei Ying's pulse then sighed "Maybe because he is a man but the pulse are unstable. Try not to stress or agitate him. Let him rest and give him calming things to do"

After the doctor left, Lan Zhan sat down and started playing his Guqin for Wei Ying. Wei Ying stirred hours later and Lan Zhan immediately rushed to him. "How are you feeling?"

"A little giddy" Wei Ying replied as he signaled for Lan Zhan to cuddle with him. Lan Zhan got under the sheets and hugged Wei Ying.

Wei Ying snuggled against Lan Zhan, feeling the warmth and comfort. "Sorry" Lan Zhan whispered. Lan Zhan felt like he did not take care of Wei Ying well enough.

Wei Ying pouted "Lan Zhan, I promise not to do too dangerous activities but can you please bring me on nighthunts?"

Lan Zhan nodded and kissed Wei Ying's forehead as he imagined the number of disciples he will bring along. "Just the two of us" Wei Ying reinforced.

Lan Zhan wanted to protest but seeing Wei Ying's pout and remembering the doctors words, Lan Zhan gave in "Alright"

Wei Ying smiled and hugged Lan Zhan "I love you, Lan Er Ge Ge" Lan Zhan hugged back and gave Wei Ying forehead kisses "I love you too, Wei Ying"

A week passed and Wei Ying was getting better. He enjoyed the night hunts, spending time with rabbits and with Lan Zhan on the house they built on the mountain at the back of Cloud Recesses.

They visited BaoShan SanRen and she insisted on transferring her inner energy to Wei Ying. While doing so, one of her disciples attacked her.

As a result, BaoShan SanRen was injured quite badly. Wei Ying was so furious and felt bad as this happened because she was transferring energy to him.

The disciple wasn't happy that BaoShan SanRen gave more attention to Lan Zhan, Wei Ying and Wen Qing. He wanted to attack Wei Ying but BaoShan SanRen took the hit for him.

Wei Ying was so mad he grabbed SuiBian and attacked the disciple. Lan Zhan tried calming him down but he only stopped when BaoShan SanRen called for him.

BaoShan SanRen shook it off as she felt that it was true she paid more attention to Wei Ying. She went into seclusion to heal and it would be better for Wei Ying to not travel so far as he is nearing his due date.

Hence, Wei Ying and Lan Zhan stayed in Cloud Recesses. Since BaoShan SanRen failed to transfer energy to Wei Ying, Wei Ying's pulse was getting unstable.

Lan Zhan could transfer energy but it only helped Wei Ying feel a little better and Wei Ying started fainting often.

Wei Ying was three weeks near his due date but he had been bedridden for the past few days. The doctor shook his head.

"His pulse is seriously unstable and his body is quite weak. Men aren't made to give birth after all. It's like the baby is sucking his life energy away."

BaoShan SanRen knew so she wanted to transfer her inner energy which was one of the strongest in the world. Unfortunately, she failed.

The doctor continued "The baby is taking energy everyday from Young Master Wei, I'm afraid..."

"Afraid what?" Lan Zhan said with his cold hardened voice. The doctor looked down and said in a softer voice "I-I'm afraid he might not have the energy to conceive... The stronger the baby grows, the weaker Young Master Wei becomes. Young Master Wei might not... might not even last long enough till the due date..."

Lan QiRen who was getting headaches due to worrying over Wei Ying (secretly) stumbled back and Lan XiChen immediately supported him.

Lan Zhan gripped the sheets, refusing to look away from Wei Ying, refusing to believe the doctor. "How can he get more energy?"

The doctor widened his eyes "T-That's... P-Pardon me Hanguang Jun, but inner energy is not something you can "get". The spiritual energy you transfer him isn't enough at all. It only helps ease his pain"

Meanwhile, somewhere above the sky...

"See?! What have you done to Wei WuXian?!"

"I-I... I didn't know it would be so confusing if a man gets pregnant!"

"There's a reason why women gets pregnant, not men! Their hormones give them the necessary energy!"
(i don't actually know, it's made up)

"What should we do? How can we help him?"

"Are you crazy? Help him? How? It's not like we can transfer inner energy! We're incompatible! Humans and gods don't have the same energy!"

"Ah, then we can give them the same pill that replenish their energy!"

"No, there isn't any more. That pill is a miracle pill and it takes tens of thousands of years to make one. And we gave them the only two we made"

"Go make more now!"

"We won't be able to make it in time!"

"So why did you put a crazy pill in there?!"

"I couldn't have taken it back anyway! We aren't allowed to go down there without permission! Besides, Wei WuXian is strong! He'll be fine!"

Back to Lan Zhan and Wei Ying...

Lan Zhan didn't like hearing what the doctor said and started transferring his energy. At least Wei Ying would feel more comfortable now.
