16 - Quickly come back

Lan Zhan relearned how to properly take care of Lan Han and Lan Yin. But it was harder than expected.

At first when one cried, he would quickly make milk and feed them. If they didn't want to drink, he would then check if they have soiled their pants.

If they didn't he would pat them to sleep or try to divert their attention and play with them.

The worst was when both cried. Lan Zhan had trouble handling both at once. Thankfully, XiChen and Jiang Cheng were there to help him out most of the time.

SiZhui and Jin Ling also helped to play with them and keep them occupied while Lan Zhan went to check the hut every evening, in case Wei Ying has returned.

Lan Zhan would stare at Lan Han and Lan Yin every night, caressing their cheeks while trying to see if he could see Wei Ying in them.

He would smile when he sees Wei Ying's features on their faces and he would frown when the baby didn't really look exactly like Wei Ying.

He is proud of their mixed features but he had hoped that they would look more like Wei Ying, especially now when he misses Wei Ying badly.

Three weeks passed and Lan Zhan was getting used to it. As he was a light sleeper, Lan Han and Lan Yin were attended to whenever they cried in the middle of the night.

Lan Zhan would bathe them, feed them, play with them and stuff but every second he is wishing and hoping that he can do it together with Wei Ying.

In the evening Lan Zhan would carry Han and Yin to the rabbit den and feed them. The first time Lan Zhan smiled after Wei Ying's disappearance was here.

When Lan Han and Lan Yin who were sitting together tried using their tiny hands to pull them over to surround themselves.

This reminded him of his Wei Ying who would always place rabbits all over and around him so Lan Zhan wouldn't be able to find him.

But Lan Zhan always manages to. Lan Zhan smiled remembering how Wei Ying pouted and told Lan Zhan he was no fun but then hugged Lan Zhan and tell him how much he misses and loves him.

Lan Zhan would then let XiChen and Jiang Cheng spend some time with their nephew. He would then go to the hut alone and walk all over Cloud Recesses hoping he could find Wei Ying playfully hiding at some corner.

Lan QiRen also played with Lan Han and Lan Yin for a while everyday. He loves them so much though he recited Cloud Recesses's rules to them while playing with them, in hopes that they won't be as mischevious as Wei Ying.

Lan Zhan stroked the black and white rabbit figurine on the table. "Wei Ying, I'm still waiting. Quickly come back, I miss you.

We have to celebrate Lan Han and Lan Yin for turning one month old. Remember you said for their full moon celebration you want to shave their hair together and bathe them together?"

Lan Zhan stared at the rabbits then got up and muttered under his breath "I'm waiting for you, Wei Ying. Where are you?"

Three days passed and Lan Zhan was getting anxious. He wanted to celebrate their child's first month celebration together.

Yanli came over to Cloud Recesses to visit her niece and nephew and the moment she arrived, her son ran and dragged SiZhui away.

Yanli smiled as she shook her head and headed to where Jiang Cheng, XiChen, Lan Han and Lan Yin were. "A-Cheng"

Jiang Cheng smiled and hugged her before saying "Father and Mother is coming tomorrow" Yanli nodded "They can't wait to see Han and Yin"

Yanli carried Lan Yin and played with her. "Jie! Put her down! You're carrying her for too long!" Jiang Cheng complained.

Yanli chuckled "A-Cheng, you can carry Han if you want" Jiang Cheng fidgeted and XiChen chuckled "WanYin, look, he wants you to carry him. Besides, we can train for future"

Jiang Cheng immediately blushed as he exclaimed "What are you saying!" while Yanli chuckled at her brother. XiChen smiled and picked Lan Han up.

"Careful! Careful!" Jiang Cheng exclaimed. Even after 3 weeks, to him, Lan Han and Lan Yin are only safe when they are sitting upright or lying on the bed.

It is definitely dangerous to pass them around or keep holding them. What if your arms get sore or you accidentally drop them!

Jiang Cheng smiled as he saw Lan Han in his arms. Yanli smiled sadly at this and at Lan Yin in her arms. "A-Cheng... A-Xian.... He really just disappeared?"

Jiang Cheng's smile disappeared as he nodded his head "Just disappeared. Like he vanished into thin air. Like he wasn't there in the first place"

XiChen wrap his arm around Jiang Cheng's waist and kussed him before saying "Don't worry. Brother in law will be back. Definitely"

"I don't doubt that..." Jiang Cheng said, then continued "It's just when. It's almost a month already. I thought he would be back at most after a week."

Lan Zhan who was standing at the door, froze. Instead of going in, he left to look again. All over Cloud Recesses, the rabbit den, the Cold Spring.

He stood at the waterfall he and Wei Ying used to stand at. He smiled remembering the time both of them happened to be turned on and started doing it here, on a stepping stone at the edge of the waterfall.

Lan Zhan shook his head and went back to their hut. The hut they promised to build together and did.

Lan Zhan went in and stood by the desk, looking at the two rabbits. He caressed them then turned to leave. But before he could take another step, Bichen fell out of his hand.
