D: March 1, 2020 Crickets

Crickets.

That's what I hear when I post an announcement on Wattpad or Twitter. According to a Goggle search, crickets in USA slang means: absolute silence; no communication.

Why do 682 people follow me if they aren't going to read my books or reply to my messages? It's a conundrum.

I used to enjoy the concert of crickets chirping in harmony on a cool summer's evening, but not so much anymore, since they represent the sound of silence.

Crickets were once considered good luck. People in China used to keep them in cages to listen to their unique music. Male crickets chirp by rubbing their legs together like tiny violins, trying to attract the attention of females. If wish I knew how to get people to notice me.

My favorite famous crickets are Jiminy, Cri-Kee, and Chester. The first two are Disney stars. Bonus points if you know which movies. The third is from a children's book, The Cricket in Times Square. I want to read it again, but it's not on my shelf. Whoever has it, I want it back.

I've read eight books in two months, which was my goal of four books a month. I only liked one, an adult romance, not worth mentioning. I got them all free from Book Bub. You get what you pay for, sometimes. I need to go to the library to find better books.

I'm still trying to find a book to review for my April blog. Any suggestions? The fantasy book I was planning to review ended on a cliffhanger. I won't be buying the second book.

The only TV and movies I've watched with Pappy Love here are westerns, and we listen to country music on the radio. The only current country song I like is Spin: It All Comes Out in the Wash by Miranda Lambert, because the lyrics are laugh out loud funny. I can barely tolerate the others. If I hear another drinking song, I may scream. I change the channel a lot. I did enjoy the older country music of the 90s, but not this new noise.

When I wash the pots and pans, I listen to my contemporary Christian music. I love the new song by Mercy Me, Almost Home. and their older song, Even If. Did you ever see the movie I Can Only Imagine? It's about the lead singer's life and the band's first number one hit song.

I want to go see I Still Believe in theaters. It tells the love story of Jeremy Camp and his wife. The previews are amazing! What new movie do you want to watch?

I posted Chapter Two of Only Time Would Tell yesterday, and three people liked it. I appreciate you three so much. But quite frankly, my lovelies, the constant sound of crickets on Wattpad is breaking my heart.
