Hello Fellow Authors,

It was so cold this past winter, I saw people wearing two layers of pajamas at Walmart!

Don't misunderstand me. I love Walmart. I shop there for groceries every week. It's a great place to people watch. Lots of interesting characters of all colors, shapes, and sizes go to Walmart, including myself. I'm always the one wearing purple.

People have asked me: How did you get the idea for your novel?

Well, I was walking through Wal-Mart when I heard the lyrics "a rose on the grave" coming from the sound system. The words and the melody of that song haunted me throughout my shopping trip and on the way home. I didn't know the title or the artist, but I was going to find out.

I went home and googled the lyrics. It took me a while because the words are actually "a rose on the grey", but I finally discovered that the song was "Kiss from a Rose" by Seal.

As I listened to the song, I pictured roses on a gravestone and asked myself: Who put the roses on the grave? (Jasmine, my main character) Whose grave is it? (Jasmine's father) How did he die? Etcetera. I kept asking myself questions, and by answering them, I created an outline for the plot of my novel Forever Remember.

So if you need inspiration to write a best-selling story, go to Walmart. You never know what you'll discover at a grocery store.
