I can finally breathe, Yoon Se Ri... - episode 9

Episode 9. One of my favourite scenes... Jeong Hyeok and Yoon Se Ri meet again, at his parents' house... what happened when they finally got together? So many emotions, so many words left unspoken... I hope you enjoy reading, as much as I loved writing each line...

His heart finally found peace when his mother pushed Se Ri by her arm and brought her to his presence. Jeong Hyeok could finally breathe... those past hours had been a living hell and keeping the control of his mind not to do something stupid and irrational had been so hard...

The moment he had received that call from Se Ri, saying she was leaving without saying goodbye... then her tears... her voice... he immediately knew something was wrong with her. She could say whatever she wanted but he knew her so well he'd realize if she was being true or not. Even before the gunshot, he knew she was in danger... Like that time he had crossed that forest, under a snowstorm, and he'd found her at Goo Seung Joon's house. She had told him so many stupid things... trying to push him away but he could read her eyes like no one could. Her mouth saying all those things but her, her beautiful, teary eyes saying otherwise... He knew she was being forced to say all that, he knew she was in pain too, he knew she would sacrifice herself to protect him. So he left... devastated not by her words but with the fact she was willing to marry that guy just to leave home, and to make sure she wouldn't hurt him anymore. He was devastated because, for the first time, he had realized love wasn't enough to keep them together...

And, when he saw her driving, coming after him, he realized what he had seen in her eyes was accurate: that woman loved him, like he loved her back. They were bonded and, no matter the peril, no matter the circumstance, that strong feeling was unbreakable. So, she was his first love. So he was single... but so was she. And for some reason, they had been alone for so many time, waiting for one another, waiting to meet and make sense, together...

However, receiving that call, listening to Se Ri in danger, trying to push him away one more time, only this time, he suspected, with a gun pointed at her head, was just too much to bear...

Being locked up, like an animal... suffering, wondering where she'd be... tortured, raped, dead... He had to get a confession, no matter what, so when he was released, his only thought was Se Ri. Where would she be?

Dan was behind this, he knew for sure. She was hurt, she was jeoulous, trying to keep someone that had never been hers. Securing a promise and forcing him to stand with her, by hurting the woman he loved was only leading to a road of resentment and indifference. He knew a woman with a hurt pride was dangerous but he never thought she would be willing to plot against am innocent woman's life...

Standing in front of his father was his only chance to let go of all the pain he was feeling. He had to be the responsible for Se Ri's abduction. He knew his father was capable of doing anything in his power to secure his family and Se Ri was a liability... He could easily order her execution, he had done that before...

He knew his father's silence was the confirmation he was behind all that. He was analysing his behaviour... After all, his father was the 3rd most powerful man of North Korea, and a very intelligent man... The only thing he needed to figure out was why his son was willing to risk everything for a stranger.

When Se Ri finally appeared, it was obvious for everything in that room she loved Jeong Hyeok and he felt the same about her.

His mother had realized that long before... listening to that woman speaking so tenderly of her son, blaming herself for everything and always worried about his sake... a mother could tell. A woman could tell. That southern girl loved her son and that was all she needed to know... unlike her husband she immediately understood why her «sweet boy» had kept Se Ri secretly under his protection for so long: he loved her. It was simple. He loved and that love had been a cure for his pain and sorrow... and she could only thank that woman, for that miracle.
