──── Mallory Thompson

AFTER A LONG DAY OF STEWING ON EMOTIONS AND THE FACT HER LIFE WAS CHANGED FOREVER, Mallory cleaned herself up and decided to leave the confines of her lonely and agonizing quiet room. After a while, the continuous creaking of the of the building and the wind knocking on her window got too much to handle. She had always been able to pinpoint the most simple of sounds, being unable to tune them out. Thus, too long of a listen drove her up the walls of insanity. Silence was her least favorite thing for it gave her ears the opportunity to work overtime.

Ruby must've wrapped her head at some point, the bandage rubbed along the surface of her head but she resisted the urge to rip the covering off. Both arms were bandaged as well and thankfully there weren't any mirrors around, because she did not fancy seeing how battered she looked. She already knew that her appearance had reflected the absolute worst days of her life.

Her head spun slightly when she made her way outside, the glaring sun making her eyes water from sensitivity. She still had no idea how long they spent on the boat and it was a couple of days of being inside her room. Her body reacted immediately to the daytime and she felt gross.

She couldn't deny though the peaceful atmosphere that came after hell. All her friends were out and about, a new spring in their steps now that they survived the Delta and moved on. It was refreshing in a way, and rather than pushing away those good feelings she began to accept that maybe she could have a happy ending after all.

Rosie greeted her first out of everyone, the canine's tongue lolled out the side of her mouth and she stood on her hind legs and pressed her body up against Mallory's. Mallory grabbed her paw and laughed softly as the dog tried to lick her face. The stub of her tail swung back and forth and the loud pants from the dog showcased her evident excitement.

"Hi, girl," she greeted as she used her hand to gently push Rosie back down onto all four legs before scratching behind her ears. "Yes, I love you, too. Despite how bad your breath stinks."

When she crouched down, Rosie instantly tried to climb into the her lap and Mallory fell back slightly from the weight. The dog was rather affectionate, maybe she understood the dire circumstances they were just under and was glad Mallory was alive. Mallory, after all, didn't ever really see the canine throughout the first fight before she was kidnapped. She wondered if maybe Rosie was curious as to where she had gone. She was acting as if she hadn't seen her owner in years. Oddly to Mallory, it felt like they were fighting for longer than a couple of days, so she would understand if Rosie had felt lost without her.
