AFTER LEAVING THE CONFINES OF THE BOARDING SCHOOL, the three teenagers tasked with hunting traveled down their hunting trail, heading towards the traps that had been assembled long ago. Aasim had ignored Louis and Mallory for the first couple of minutes in which they had been walking, the previously mentioned teenagers were immersed in a completely unimportant and casual conversation. Both were highly unaware of their surroundings, but fortunately for them, it had been a peaceful day, with no alarming warning signs that needed to be tended to.

"You know, you are by far my favorite person in that school. That's a high honor, be proud," Louis said randomly, causing the female beside him to raise an eyebrow in amusement. As those words hadn't entirely fit in with their previous conversation, though she didn't complain.

"I would be pretty offended if I wasn't," Mallory told Louis, sending him a sly smile as he stood straighter and adjusted his jacket.

In front of them, Aasim groaned but the teenager, in general, was never into the playful banter of the two. He was grateful though that he wasn't stuck with Louis all on his own, as Mallory at least pulled her weight and helped remove prey from their various traps if needed. Louis, while he was smart and was good at hunting, he always felt the need to show off and mix in his famous round of childish antics when out and about. Mallory was usually the only one who participated the most and this was still surprising to most of the troubled youth. Her seemingly soft spot for the dreaded boy never went unnoticed, and Louis was always grateful that despite the blonde's hardened exterior, she validated him and let him carry on with whatever jokes he conjured up all the time.

"Well, what if I said Marlon was my favorite person in all existence?" Louis challenged.

"I'd find a new best friend," Mallory said within a moment. "Maybe replace you with Violet."

"Ouch," Louis slapped a hand against his chest, feigning offense. "I mean, Violet is great and all but she's not me."

"You're right," Mallory held her hands up, however, the playful glint in her eyes proved that she was not ending things there. "No one is as unbearably annoying as you. All talk and you got no game."

Louis let out a shocked gasp, throwing Mallory a disbelieving look. Mallory couldn't help but let out a soft and brief laugh upon viewing the ridiculous expression on her friend's face. Mallory was relieved that her words never seemed to strike a certain chord within Louis and hurt him, and it was fun that they reveled in this kind of behavior without completely worrying about crossing any boundaries. Of course, they never said anything too personal or harmful in general. Mallory would never admit it, whether it was pride or something else, but it relieved a great deal of pressure and tension in her life whenever she let her guard down for a few moments.
