alley lights
on floodgate eyes
marble stairs
to gilded lies
each night i'm slain
by that beast inside
till the dawn — you breathe me
back to life
/
i'm chasing whispers
down to three a.m.
painting suns for the night
before i got burned
lone rider, never lonely
'till you appeared
/
oh mind of marble, climb these stairs
why'n't we stop, right now, right here
the view's a waste, but i never cared
we'll mount the sunset on this belvedere
/
oh golden plum that drowns the dawn
you golden plum, you kill the sunset
how could i know sweetness
without a gaze within?
/
tungsten skin, brittle heart
glimmers like a diamond.
flesh and stars, if you take me apart
hand me 'nother glass.
sunset, don't you fear the night
for there is no conquest without letting go
thus, adieu, mein bellevedere.
