take me to the ledge 'fore you let go
i'm afraid
afraid of losing you
i'm afraid of falling.
/
the boiling broth churns
storm on the horizon, currents by my feet
a step back, mother?
hits the cliff.
/
how could light ever pierce through time?
our steps, echos down these vacant halls
— an immense echo.
a song across eons, a specter caught
between a million walls.
/
time does not fly.
seagulls fly; taking to the clouds high
above the storm and the sea, they never lose sight of home.
i take a leap, a plunge — i am no seagull
the brine will carry me home.
/
i cannot breathe without
flying through the tides
perhaps i can be a shark.
