Roddy POV

Me: Hey is this still your #, Jackie?

I sent the text finally after an hour deciding if I should or not.

I just don't want Jackie rejecting me, but I'm gone try for her.

I sat there and sat my phone down on the counter, grabbing a can of sprite out of the fridge. I opened it taking a sip when Bird walked in the kitchen and said "Can you grab a can for me?"

"Got you" I said opening the fridge and handing him a can.

"What you nervous about?" He asked chuckling. Bird knows me better than anybody.

"How you know I'm nervous?" I asked.

"I've known you since we were 10. I know pretty much everything 'bout you bro. I can see it in your face." Bird said.

"Well I texted Jackie.." I said.

"Oh, that's what this is about. She respond yet?" He asked.

"Nah, I literally just sent it. You think she gone reject me?" I asked.

"I mean I wouldn't blame her after how you treated her." He said and I flipped him off and he laughed.

"Bro you know I'm gon' always keep it one hundred wit' you. If you don't wanna hear the truth, don't ask me nothin'." Bird said.

"Whatever." I said.

"But what happened between y'all was a year ago, so maybe she'll be opened to having a conversation with you." Bird said.

"I hope so. I just miss my baby." I said.

"Yo baby? Since when she became that?" Bird asked laughing.

"Nigga you know in my mind she was always that. I was just trippin', felt like I couldn't be tied down because I still wanted to be playa." I said sighing.

"Now you finally realize it's not as cracked up as niggas make it sound like." Bird said.

"Yeah.. I do." I said sighing.

My phone buzzed and I immediately grabbed it.

"This nigga grabbed his phone quick" Bird said laughing.

"Shut up" I said chuckling as I read the text.

Jackie: Hey Rodrick, yeah this still my number lol

I smiled. At least she still had my number saved, that's a good sign right?

Me: I was just thinking bout you. How you been?

"She still has my number" I said.

"This nigga lowkey happy." Bird said chuckling.

"I ain't gone cap, I am." I said and we both laughed together.

Jackie: I'm great how about you?

Me: I'm better now 😂 We should link. Maybe catch up sometime?

My palms got a little sweaty. I don't know why, I was just hoping I wouldn't get rejected.

Hmm.

I thought about it, I wasn't sure about all that. I don't need Ken on my neck about it.

But then again, Rodrick is a long time friend. I don't mind catching up with him, as long as he doesn't try disrespecting my relationship we're good.
